DESCRIPTION
The Cirque de Mystère is an early 20th Century. underground circus show of mystical acts, inexplicable stunts and freakish sideshows. The talented performers of the cirque live dark and dangerous lives with ties in the seedy underworld of sex, crime and the occult. Unable to sustain ‘normal’ lives in mainstream society, many of the cirque troupe lead double lives as thieves, con-artists, assassins and other undesirables.

Design a member of the Cirque de Mystère.

Examples:
The Sadist Lion Tamer
Violent Clowns
The Blind Knife-Throwing Assassin

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turn_of_the_century
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_League_of_Extraordinary_Gentlemen

Things to remember:
Can be male or female
The setting is turn of the 20th century so keep in mind the style and design of that era (1850-1920)!
The performers act needs to be clearly identifiable
It’s a dark, dangerous world so the character needs to reflect that

Good luck!

Hey everyone,

Here's my entry for this month. I went with the Metal Eater. I thought about making a fire breather or a glass eater but I went with a different concept. Hope you like it.

People I voted for because I felt they succeeded into the whole theatrical creepiness area plus something that I haven't seen earlier I guess:

Bleurgh
Pxelslayer
Jessibean
Yintech
Untouched24

I liked Ruri's and Madhatter's but I didn't think they were creepy in the sinister sense, so didn't vote but liked.

A lot of really dark palettes for this CHOW. There were a number of pieces I would have liked better with less murkiness.

A lot of really dark palettes for this CHOW. There were a number of pieces I would have liked better with less murkiness.

Well, often content dictates style...

Couple of comments, critiques...

artina - I like his frame and facial expression; the one thing that looks a bit off is the bib under his chin - it almost has the qualities of bent, twisted metal. The way you painted it echoes the way you painted his belly cellulite, and it just is a little jarring to me. Otherwise, I think this looks swell.
PxlSlayer - love the atmosphere on this one; the only thing I would change is to curve the brim of his hat, rather than leave it flat like that.
RichLyons - yay, Pagliacci inspired!
Untouched24 - love the face on the twisted, deformed hand; and the signage is a great touch, too!
Elixy - oh I wish you had worked this one up a bit more; I think it would have turned out great if you had a few more hours with it...
Mr. Gadbury - love the voodoo touch!
JessiBean - glad you made it in under the deadline - again, I love the angle at which you are portraying this character, and the inclusion of the elephant...

What a great round! Glad I had a chance to participate...
