I was reading a webcomic the other day (The Meek (http://www.meekcomic.com/), by D. Helmer) and I was struck by one particular scene transition where a character comes out of a flashback. It reminded me a lot of the storytelling structure of the tv show Lost and I got to thinking about how visual narratives are constructed.

Lost in particular is a really fascinating show to me, (though I've yet to finish the last season, though it's been done for like 9 months... I'm re-watching it with my partner, finally getting him to watch it! Please, no spoilers, though I know it might be difficult to have a full discussion of its storytelling merits if you can't talk about the ending... :( ) and I really enjoy how it's told.

I'm really curious about what other people's experiences are in creating effective stories on the page, and what others' inspirations and muses are in this field.

What shows/movies/books/comics do you find to be compelling stories and why?
