Best way to learn to draw or paint trees is to go outside and study and sketch them. Trees are so varied, are you talking about bare trees, palm trees, conifers, deciduous? Close up or faraway?Trees look different from interior forest scenes to a stand of trees far away. Practice drawing their contours as silhouettes then light and shade them to give them form.

Sorry.I forgot to put and example. I want to paint something like this
Example 1 (http://browse.deviantart.com/resources/tutorials/digiart/dpadigi/photoshop/?qh=§ion=&q=forest#/d1zdnk1)
Example 2 (http://browse.deviantart.com/resources/tutorials/digiart/dpadigi/photoshop/?qh=§ion=&q=forest#/d2cw0rm) , more in forest than far away :)

Those are two very different methods of making trees.

Here is a demo I did for the first type of scene
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=184985
and here is one from my blog for the second type

both are traditionally painted but the digital process would be the same in theory; I would just keep the elements on separate layers till the end. Really though get out and look at trees and practice its the best way to learn quickly.
