These are some characters I came up with for a project of mine.

The first two are gnolls (the guy in the red is the first of these, and what inspired me to make all the others). Yes, I know gnolls are supposed to be a little uglier and more dog-like, but I kind of like these!

The second two are orcs. I came up with these this morning, and thought they kind of had personality. Maybe I'll color them if I decide to stick with them.

i like where ya going with this. My suggestion would be define them better with theuse of lines and clothes. They seem to have no expressions. Get some refs for clothes for light and color :D

Thanks for the advice Mercer.
Where exactly do you feel the lack of expression?
Is it the body pose or the facial expressions?

i dont really know the exacts of your project but im going to assume it involves illustration of some kind when i said expression i was thinking of model sheets (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safe=off&q=model+sheets&btnG=Search). They help define a character in ways they express emotions. Check out the link and maybe continue with these but maybe in different poses or places they would be for example the cook on the bottom right could be in a kitchen :D
