I remember when In Rainbows came out there were a lot of fans on here, so I thought this would be worthy news to share! Radiohead are releasing their eighth full length album this Saturday, entitled King of Limbs. I'm extremely excited, more-so than I've been for an album in a very long time!
In my opinion Radiohead are the best (or maybe second best) band around nowadays, and they've never released a bad album IMO. In Rainbows was a masterpiece, or close to it, so hopefully this new album will be of the same caliber!

You don't get to pay what you want like last time but you can preorder MP3s for $9, WAV for $14, or a "Newspaper album" bundle with 2 10" records, a CD, and an artwork book for $50 (plus the digital format of your choice.)
If it's anything like the cover and promo pictures, it should be dark, organic, and weird!

I was just now listening to "I will (los angeles version)" and came to CA to see what's up and here's what I find, awesome!
I'm a big fan of Donwood's so kinda dissapointed in the cover art but I'll still probably get the newspaper bundle for the artworks and... everything.
Thanks Jacob, I'm really stoked too and I'm confident this'll rock.
(Who were you thinking of when you said "or maybe second best"? not that the idea of a "best band" really means anything imo)

Sigur Ros. But they're different bands, and there's no real reason to compare them. Ulver would be third, IMO, and this is judging on album quality. All three bands have released many albums in different styles and done all of those different styles extremely well.

Radiohead is one of the few bands I listened to in high school that I will admit to liking now. Their last, In Rainbows, was one of their strongest albums. I can't wait to hear this one.
Out of curiosity, has anyone else here tried creating the 0110 album by alternating the first five tracks of OK Computer with the first five from In Rainbows?

^ Yes, and I think it's bullshit. The tracks don't flow well at all. This is hilarious though:
"in rainbows" and "ok computer"
both titles are a 2-letter word followed by 8-letter word.
remember the numbers 2 and 8...
X from Dead Air Space notes obviously represents "10" roma-numerically.
remember the numbers 1 and 0...
the first song on in rainbows is "15 step". "15" times "10" is 150 (steps).
remember the number 150...
between both titles, there are 2 letter I's and 3 letter O's 2+3=5 (note that this is against what radiohead would lead you to believe.)
remember the number 5...
"ok computer" was radiohead's 3rd album. 10 to the power of 3 is "1000"
remember the number 1000...
now, we are left with the numbers: 2, 8, 1, 0, 150, 5, 1000
"2" represented alphabetically is a "Z"
"8" represented alphabetically is a "B"
"1" represented alphabetically is an "I"
"0" represented alphabetically is an "O"
"150" roma-numerically is represented by the letter "E"
"5" represented alphabetically is a "S"
"1000" roma-numerically is represented by the letter "M"
we are left with the letters ZBIOESM.
it doesnt take a tom hanks to figure out this (ban)anagram,
clearly, radiohead is warning us about ZOMBIES.
i predict the attack to be 10 years from now, the time i discovered it.

Damn it's a good album! It certainly doesn't sound like a band that's almost 20 years old! I seriously cant think of another band that have released albums this good 20 years after their start! It's maybe their most experimental yet also.
... And there's some mellotron on there. 8)

Nice and I don't mean this to sound like faint praise, I just have trouble with most music on first listen. When I think experimental I remember "spinning plates" but these songs didn't sound that adventurous to me. Electronic? yes and overall it felt (short!) serene with a lot of atmospheric stuff and less "bitterness" or melancholy than in most of the previous albums.
I love this song and the vid.

I listened to this album 6 times today. :P It definitely is their most electronic and probably most experimental album to date. I also think it has a definite 20-teen feel, and what I mean by that is that it has a unique atmosphere and production style that I think is becoming a trend and key style for this new decade. There were a whole bunch of albums that came out last year with a similar production style but before last year I can't really think of any with this sound.

In order of preference:
1) Lotus Flower: Among other things, I really like the drums.
2) Little by little: I like and besides it reminds me of Talking heads' Remain in light, somehow.
3) Bloom: Great!
4) Feral: Full of nice "textures".
5) Codex: Nice and melancholic?
Then tie between:
6) Morning Mr Magpie
7) Separator: I was surprised this was used to end the album but I'm starting to sort of get it, perhaps.
8) Give up the ghost: The high pitched don't hurt me's in the BG annoy me and they never stop.
9) Someone thought 8 tracks was enough.
10) They were wrong! :p
