Nice work. :)
Looks like it could be an illustration for a book or a magazine.

Is it a mother who has to let her son go as he is rebelling against her?

(how did you digitize such a huge piece though? Digital camera?)

very cool piece.

¤ N G ¤, do you know what a wacom is? Check out wacom.com. I believe this is a digital painting. Many/most of the artists on this forum work digitally with the use of a tablet.

Ummm....yeah. I have a Wacom Intuos(1) myself... :)

But he said "Oil on panel 2 feet by 7 feet", so I thought...?

NG was right.. it is an Oil painting... not a digital painting... and yes I shot it in a studio with a digital camera... there are 2 sections... it is 2 ft by 7 ft... the Love of a mother trying to establish a reach to her angsty son... who knows nothing but haterd. I mean I thought if you were a hateful person the only place that you would probably still recieve love is in the out reached arm of a mother.
The mother has a look of pain on her face because of the constrictions that hold her on her panel, however as seen on this forum the separation of the panels is not defined.

It kind of reminds me of the relationship I have with my mum, anyway, the paint is dripping on the fella's shirt underneath his bicep, or maybe I'm wrong, or maybe I should just shut-up. However, Good Job, well done!

This painting just oozes with emotion. You conveyed the feelings of the people beautifully. Great attention to details, I especially like the hands which have just as much expression as the faces.

It's nice to see some artwork other than Fallen vampires from hell and Ranger elf #47

:chug: Cheers to a job well done!

Wonderful! The mother's face looks a bit small for her head, but not too out of place, I guess. There are so many faces in the world that some are real even though they may look strange (in a good way). the whole piece is very moving!

wouldnt his anger come across better if he was kicking her ass? ;)

Okay just kidding, its a nice painting, its neat to see someone using traditional media for a change!

Great job in expressing emotion, I'd love to see it in real life to get the full effect!

God how I would love to see this in real life..the emotions conveyed are just..wow.

Very strong piece. You've captured the emotion of the moment. That alone makes this a great piece of art.

I really like your choice of colors, especially on the woman's shirt. And I love the rendering of her hands--very nice.

One thing: The rendering of the guy's pants and belt seems stylistically different than the woman's clothes. It looks like the seams of his pants are very dark, which on my monitor almost looks like line art. Perhaps you intended this. Just a thought.

Wow... great advice.. the style difference in the end was something that didnt bother me so much in the original. It is definately something that I was wrestling with through out the process of painting it.. on the guys shirt where the dripping is on the rib cage I really liked alot... and alot of the darks.. on his shirt is from the original charcoal drawing.. .. so I really wanted something similar to that on her.. It was one of those things you really had to anticapate though.. but in the end it didnt bother me to much.

Interesting format!

I don't think that orange glow needs to be so ... orange. You could just barely hint at it and the viewer would get the point more effectively.

After seeing that detail, I think it looks great the way it is. The darks look like they fit the lighting right on, and the illusion of line art in the small jpg is gone. Lookin' good!

How do you like this Dipdic compared to " The Cycle" book cover that I just submitted?

This is a nice painting, I really enjoying seeing paintings done in unconventional dimensions such as this. The color use is nice, the painting technique works for the piece as well. My only complaint is the womans face becaomes a slight bit to contorted to the point you loose the sense of an underlying structure. Other than that I have nothing but good things to say about this piece. Keep up the good work and keep workin large.
