Alright, after a year of struggling to find a job as a concept artist and not getting much interview oppotunity, I am wondering if some 3D skill helps.
btw my concept art website: rowenawang.ca
Right now I am thinking about attending a 3d training certificate program (and I heard 85-90% find a job within 3 month), so that I can be a more desirable candidate who can do both, in order to be hired by a company, and eventually be a concept artist in the department.
So I am asking all the professionals who have been successfully working in this field in a company, do you think this is a good way to get into a company?

Yeah, the more you understand and can work in any part of the production pipeline the better chances you have for getting a job.

It is a desirable skill, a concept artist can supply work for an army of 3d ppl, so there are more positions available. However, I call bullshit on that 85% placement stat. It's the kind of crap schools feed you to get your money. There are more openings in 3d, but it doesn't mean finding a job will be a piece of cake, you aren't the first person to think of that angle.
