Nice sketches Wesley_e17 ,u got the talent, but try to work on the 3d effects in ur drawings, vanishing points, mayb some work with the tones to strengthen depth ,... got what i mean? nice imagination Wesley:) about ur quest. i always have a golden rule which is focus on one program ,don't destract urself ,every program has an exponential abilities what differs is the feasability to perform a specificv task, but every single one has enough tools to let u reach outstanding results, actually i worked with Maya all i can say about it , it is extremely great ,the modelling is very flexible nurbs and polygons wise it doesn't make u focus on one way ,u can choose many ways and yet reaching the same results,it is also feasable to be programmed to suit ur way of work ,"Expressions, mel" . and if u got a specific question plz feel free to adress it i hope i can help:):chug:

if you're looking to start out with modeling, go with a cheep program first. 3ds max and maya cost in the 1000 dollar range, so I don't recomend buying one untill you know what you're doing and know that 3d art is something you're interested in. I suggest one of the following:
Milkshape: 25 bucks, a bit rudimentary but a good modeler with an ok rendering capability. More importantly, it can export to a huge ammount of file types so its great for games (I'm using it for my game, and it works reasonably well).
Blender3d: FREE! And it has exxelent rendering and animation capability. However, the learning curve is increadable and the interface is a clunky mess. However, once you learn it, you can do anything 3ds max or maya can for free.
Gmax: Free, but no rendering, and no ability to export exept for a few games that it supports. However, before you buy 3ds max, dl this first and try it out and practice your skills as the interface in both programs is basicaly identical.

Hope that helps!
