Hi,

I am trying to learn the concept art painting digitally. I have a Wacom Tablet, and lot of time on my hands. Whenever I sit to get started I always hit a block on where to get started.

For elaboration; I need a method to learn Digital Concept Art painting in a smooth learning curve. I am learning Traditional Drawing too. But there too I almost always hit a block. Now Drawing on Tablet is very disconnected but I am getting quite experienced in handling the pen and drawing straight lines, ovals, circles etc.

Please help me get over this mental block in my learning. I know it needs dedication and hard work but what I lack is a direction.

For example, what to draw, how to use Photoshop brushes for drawing sketches, whats best for learning concept art etc.

If you want me to copy other's works than please guide me on that too.

I also need guide on proper positioning of tablet and how to sit etc. Thanks.

Another Question is typically how much time an Environment CA take. OR character OR Robots etc. This is to know how I am progressing, where a pro may be able to complete a project in some hours, so how long should I be expecting to be completed on my end.

There is no quick solution to any of your questions. Most of the pros here learnt traditionally first. You could try the Mentoring Section (http://conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=137), there are some good exercises in the stickies. Also start a sketchbook, comment on people around or slightly above your level to get encouragement and insight into your work. Go into the WIP & Critique section and read the comments on other people's work and bring that back into your own.
