what is that a nuclear train?

Swoop
March 23rd, 2004, 05:22 AM
Fusion ? As in cold fusion...
Then it's basically a nuclear fusino powered train.. cold fusion being nuclear fusion exising at room temperature.

Anyways i'm sure we will get alot of trains from this one :D

matt & village:

Those are awesome trains! You really convey a sense of motion!

I'll try to add one tonight. Mechanical objects aren't something I usually make, so this is a great chance to widen my horizon :)

Dont surpose this was a good time to come back to DSG but i made myself anyways.

I went for the "comedy" approach.

Some very impressive work today from all.

Not much time today. Here's my quick sketch. It's based on one of those magnetic train tracks that they are starting to implement for the new high-speed trains.

Hi guys. Some excellent work.

Here's my first marker drawing in months. Very Batmanesque. Train fused with a jet engine (you can see the jet engine's nose cone).
I did a bit of Photoshop work. Took me about 100 mins total.

I have a question, trevor's sketch brought it to my mind but all of you. How do you make long clean lines? its pretty hard for me unlike on paper. Is it because my wacom is a A3 giant? I wonder... but I doubt. and now I mentioned it dont you hate slippery wacom surface? man, nothing comes close to graphite dissolving on paper with a slight hshhhh.

c0ldf1ame
March 24th, 2004, 01:51 AM
point A, hold down shift, point B straight line,

you probably already knew tho =)

if you want a curved long clean line then its all up to ur pencil skills with the wacom, n yes slippery surface is annoying sometimes, but with a 4x5 tablet i can make very straight lines across the page, smaller has its advantages :)

BRANDISH

tape some paper onto your tablet and draw on this

plaf
March 24th, 2004, 05:10 AM
on straight and curved lines

you can indeed [click A - hold down shift - click B] to make a straight line, but you can use the path tool as well (and the line tool for that matter).

pick the path tool 'P' and you can plot points for a spline curve - that can either be a line (i.e. 2 points with no angle set to them, just a click for each point) or a curve (i.e. 2 points or more with angles set, a click and then drag to change the angle (not for the first point, but for consecutive ones))

the disadvantage to this approach is that the lines will be uniformly sized all the way, so you'll lose some some of the nice dynamic you get when drawing by hand. besides, this isn't really sketching :) - nice when you want smooth curves though.

That is baddest freaking train piece I have ever seen. EVAR! Everything about that thing is awesome. I love the scale you gave by putting a couple of people standing next to it, looking very small indeed.

Terrific work.

Village, and Matt:

Stellar work from you two as usual.
