i don't know if this is cheating. but this is something i drew as a doodle a few years ago. it fits ideally for this dsg though. i suppose i have worked it up a bit and added bits. so some of it has been done today.

Village Idiot - I don't know about 'cheating', but I think it is against the rules. The point of the DSG is surely to promote daily ( or at least regular ) drawing, so I don't really see the value in posting an old image here. Having said that, there have been a fair few pics posted recently that weren't created specifically for the DSG and no one's mentioned anything, so perhaps I'm talking through my hat. It wouldn't be the first time. All that aside, nice pic! ;)

I went for the spell casting staff approach. Pencil sketch and quick photoshop color job. I think that the sketch may be a bit better. About 1 hour or so.

artistanbul - Very nice. I agree, your lines look real nice.
llothcat - Cool idea. The perspective looks a bit off though. The bottom front is flat but the front of the barrel looks oval where it should be mostly round.
village idiot - Oh man. That is bad as hell... I love it. But, yeah, I do agree. Older work shouldn't be used. I think that the point of the forum is to start fresh every day.
Matt Dixon - I love the look of mass on your work. Great concept.
Davi - I wish you would have colored that. I really wanted to see that sheild painted up.
