Damn, this category doesn't look to be the busiest of the forum. Here's to hoping this thread doesn't go entirely unnoticed.
Been poking a bit around ConceptArt for some time, but it's always been with a feeling of "I'm nothing compared to these guys" that'd discouraged me from actually signing up here. But finally I decided to just get past that and sign up anyway; if this place is full of artists who are way better at this than me, than surely there gotta be someone here who can teach me a trick or two.
I'm an 18 year old student from Norway, and I've been drawing and painting for about... three and a half years now or so (August 2007). I started poorly done front-view drawings of people that I scanned and "coloured" in GIMP, and since I've climbed to where I am now; painting in Photoshop CS4 with a Wacom tablet I bought in 2008. But I still got a long way to go, and I really want to get greater at it, so I'm hoping that I'll be able to do that through ConceptArt.
A lot of the stuff I know so far I've learned through seeing how others have done it, through some trial and error, and stuff like that (I'd say I learn best through a combination of recration and picking up on techniques). My favourite things to work with are non-classic fantasy monsters (giant skulking three-legged arthopods over dragons and fairies), and a mixture of fantasy and steampunk. My deviantART account (where I keep all the work I've done so far) is at Link (http://biz3.deviantart.com/), totally shameless plug, if anyone feel like having a look at my latest and giving some ideas for areas where I could focus on improving. What I'd like to get better at myself, is drawing detailed and interesting concepts, and painting them in a detailed and believable fashion (while still keeping on to a sense of stylization).
And that's pretty much all that's relevant to say.
