View Full Version : A Maya 11 problem..

I decided to tackle the "Joan of Arc" tutorial, but I've hit a bit of a snag. I'm to delete an edge on a particular poligon, but despite hitting delete, or even going to edit > Remove vertices/edges, the selected edge in question remains. I gotta remove the darn thing. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?

I don't use Maya, but I hope it's similar enough so that I can say this: Try to go into point selection and delete the two individual points that make up the edge. Maybe you just have extra geometry and need to merge points?

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, combining the two vertices would create an unsightly pinched look. The edge in question stands as a border between two faces which I need to exist as one (so that things don't split apart as I extrude them later). Hitting delete or edit mesh > delete vertices/edges seems to do SOMETHING, but the edge in question stays put, and is still selectable.

try deleting the two faces that are creating the edge and then use 'fill hole'.

You should be able to select the two vertices, as been said and see if there is hidden geometry there. There should be a count for the selection, if it is more than two you know something is wrong. Delete the polys there and rebuild them then reselct the two vertices and see if you get two in the count.

Problem solved, guys! The issue was a face accidentally created inside the mesh I was building. Deleted that and used fill hole. Fixed! Thanks for all the tips.
