I have started modelling a bit differently lately. I block in the form with artisan, then rebuild the contour with the split poly tool. One thing that helps, is converting old edges to be "soft" while your new cuts automaticly show up as hard edges. This is about an hour's worth of doodling with artisan, its about ready to start becoming edge-looped.

:D dude that pretty intense but i want to see a wire becasue it get pretty complecated when you want unrap it for texturing.

I just block out the form with this tool, kindof like having scanned data as reference, then I rebuild the mesh so that it is as efficient as possible, while still retaining the form. I'll send an update when I start rebuilding, u can see what I mean
