Artistanbul- I dig the style (esp. leaving some parts sketchy) and the background texture. Do you work in Photoshop or painter?

Im left handed and draw with my left hand, but i use my right hand for drawing with a mouse.

yeah, i jizacked mine up. i didn't think about the horizon line and there was no way to put in a good sunset, tall grass background scene. how noobie of me :( but anyways, here are my two warriors ready to duel (during an african sunset... just imagine please because i already did the highlights and lighting with the sunset in mind)

Wasn't in the mood for a full body shot
Erm might not be obviously "warrior" enough, was trying to give him a little personality though. I imagine him out on gaurd against something, scanning the plains of the serengheti.

mega topic

rick, with your sketch you really hit the picture in my head when i think abuot massai or other afrikan tribes in the (classical way, the "stereotype" ive in my head)

its good for me to try sketch other cultures because i often stuck to a certain shemata wehn i draw heads, therefore
other shapes (afrikan,asian..) are really cheallenging.

keep up the good stuff and big up yourself for all dsg people

trekking masai direct from a ref more a painting practice than a concept

Otter, I'm very new to CG in fact. I dont use neither PS7 or Painter. This was done in a program called aura. Then added texture and minimal color management in PS6 in which I'm pretty comfortable.

Artistanbul, very nice. I really like the second one. So much style with so little lines.

I hope to be back at it tomorrow myself.

trevor - really great rendering! He looks like a laid back warrior... a laid back couch warrior! hehe

Brandish - my favorite one today. those colors are excellent (im digging the use of green)

Hunger Artist - my second fav. your style kicks my ass... so energetic!

reships & gossamer - great lines and characterization

artisanbul - I like the loose sketchy feel of your strokes...

everyone else was good too!!

Here's my concept - The super Shaka Zulu hunter.

He wears the fur of one of the most rare of animals, the black lion... After feeding on the flesh of this fabled beast, his eyes began to glow red with its blood and he gained the ability to see clearly during the day and during the night. The flesh of the black lion also gave him enormous strength. He no longer needs a spear - for now he kills his prey using nothing but his bare hands.
