This is pretty much my first try at making concept art. I want to make a finished illustration with one of them in some kind of fight. I think I want to use the third one for that. Should the characters be in action poses? I didn't do it because I was focusing on the costume.

Hey Incredibleandy, Nice stuff
I think these show some real potential. I would say keep on drawing. Keep posting.
I would suggest some kind of environment to help establish the character.
Well done for a first attempt.

You're right. Environments would help. I'll see what I can do about that in the future.
And don't worry: I'm here to stay!
Thanks!

You have some nice design elements present. I like the way the pieces fit together.
Your figure drawing skills are decent. A few minor problems. If you're interested in action poses, I say go for it. Take a life drawing class and then see how much better your guys are.

You're right, shortmike. I need to keep working on the ol' drawing skills. I'm used to having reference for everything, so this kind of stuff is new to me. Hopefully I'll adjust before too long. Thanks!

i recomend that you study anatomy, i myself need to do this also, your arms on the top pictures are iether way to short or the hans are way to long, i misht sudgest drawing a spimple skeliton lightly to see how the body works and is sized, then fill it out with simple shapes to creat body mass, an egg shape for the ribcadge, and a box or figure sadeways "8"'ish shape for the hips. then once to think everything is in praportion send it into the unfinished messedge boards, get crits make changes, then take some transparent paper over the top tape em togeather, and then draw an exo suit, (space suit) to encapsulate your human. sometimes by takeing the long way and going from the ground up you can better understand how everything works togeather, try that and let me know when you make a finished piece from it!also your guy faceing the right, his legs look broken becuse of the way they are the same size but ones behind another. forshortening would help.
btw, i do think you have potential, but complements wont make you better, right? cheers;)

Man, I feel like a freshman again, with the harping on proportions. It's good, though. I deserve it.
Any suggestions on the suit designs?

i love the detail. seems like you have a good eye for it. but one thing, i always try to do when conceptualizing is, to think of "what is the purpose of this device?". then i usually go and try and imagine what kind of things it might encounter.
in the case of space suit certainly the third one of the guy is a solid realistic design that could be seen in the future, and the girl is a wonderful stylized 50s (updated of course) look.
the first seems like you werent sure where you were going with the concept but could end up being a really cool "space soilder space suit" if you flesh it out a bit more....
anyway, im the worst critique-er on the board so dont listen to me ;)
id love to see more.

Cinsev– Yeah, I should think more about function. I usually just doodle until something looks cool, and only then do I start to try plugging it into some kind of purpose.
Your help is appreciated, everyone. Get ready, because I'm posting more very soon!

For a first try, not bad at all, man. I'll echo th eneed for figure drawing study, but as far as designing the suits, don't be afraid of redrawing and round after round of revisions. Even if you get sick of it, even if you think you nailed it on the first sketch, do another pass. Do some passes on just the gloves, or just the helmet or just the boots. Anyway, can't wait to see more! - mh
