For the New Yorkers out there:

Thursday night, the 18th, the Society of Illustrators will be hosting their "Jazz and Sketch" night.

$15.00 Includes: models, live music, and a light buffet (probably pasta.) They also have a full bar, drinks are extra.
6-11:00 PM
128 East 63rd Street.

It's a great evening....How many places can you drink and draw underneath a Wyeth painting, or Rockwell, Cornwell.....

Ha! What kind of party is this, drinking, jazz, a little bit of pasta, and nude women who are models?

Now boys, it’s all very above board. It’s for art and socializing during the breaks -- Not misbehavin’!

Not all events have models but this week’s does. Sometimes you just draw the band.

Wes -- You should stop in and check out the show that’s in the galleries. There’s an incredible Doanto painting that’s worth anybody’s time.

Are they ever on Fridays or weekends? I'd have to take tomorrow off work or take a midnight train back to New Haven.
Sean-- if you see Murray or Yvonne there, say hi for me.

Hi Brendan -- Sorry, but it's always the third Thursday of the month.

The vibe changes each time. Sometimes it's a big party, elbow to elbow -- other times it's pretty quiet. I think it will be a good turn out tonight...I hope so, anyway.

Hi Bryan,

It was great meeting you and the rest of the guys. I'm glad you had a good time.

Peter De Seve will be giving a lecture at the Society about his work on ICE AGE and the upcoming ROBOTS. I think it's late next month -- when I get a final date, I'll make another post.

Tyboogie,

Awesome drawings!

Was it you who said that you had the piece in the upcoming student show or was that one of the other guys? I'm getting the names and faces that I met that night mixed up in my head. Anyway, the student show is considered one of the hardest competitions to get into. They get so many entries that it takes five days to judge. So, congrats to anyone who gets in!
