this image is quite upsetting when you consider how the rider gets inside his mount.

Took a couple days off the DSG. Just wasn't feeling inspired. I wasn't particularly inspired today either, but I forced myself to do something, and what do you know, I come out with one of my better DSG's.

I might try to add the rider later, if I get some free time.

Mr Man - Once you've got PS you shouldn't have trouble with JPG pixelation. Their "save for web" setup is really good.

xbiten - Nope, not the airbrush. The brush I use is a fairly simple kind of brush - basic flat round color but you can turn up the paper grain, adjust opacity, change pressure level and such to get a range of uses.

This was an odd one... I didn't really think it out too far, but I did try to use a good deal of colour, and I think I learned one or two things. Still very intimidated by it, that's fer sure.
I'm including two versions of this, because I found I rather liked it when I pared down a few layers... sort of something that might appear on a bottle of wine as a label is what I was thinking. :D

village idiot - Great pic! Reminds me a bit of the Mugwumps...
OLSEN - That purple girly one is very cute... I dig the seating arrangement.
GoudaBoy - I like your seahorse a lot! You should ditch/re-do the fella, though...
franticflame - A lot of energy in that... I like the top two-thirds of this. Cool ornate steed and delicately rendered rider.
ninjataotao - Awwww! :(
OLSEN - You again?? This one rocks. Mood/lighting/Horse design are fantastic.
SpiralMagus - That's very cool. ...Dunno about the legs, but I like every thing else.
BRANDISH - Love it. I'd like to see you work into this one further.. some more detailed highlighting, perhaps? Really cool.
rift - Colour that
trevor - What a great beast. I love the corner of that mouth. Good eyes, too.

Very inspiring work everyone!!

 Thanks "Otter of Frenzy", just wanted to do somefin different.. You've got a pretty interesting concept there yourself. Seems quite classic. Instead of a giant squid attacking, you got Mr.Seahorse. :D

the thing thats even weirder than most facing to the left (mine is as well) is that we dont have many 3/4 views, dynamic perspectives, top, bottom....nuthin
i think we all, self included of course, need to be a bit more daring
and by the way LOTS of good work 2day
and thanx again for the complimend william b hand. i could use a few painter tips if you got time

A teacher of mine once showed me that if something that is supposed to be moving is facing right it appears idle or parked, but facing left it appears to be in motion. In almost all cases it seems to be true. My guess is it just appeared to be more natural to you guys when you painted it, or you may have started out with it facing right and reflected it to check it from another angle.
Anywho, Don't ask me why it happens but it seems true, maybe its because how we naturally view things from left to right?
