ROUND #223 :: Barbarella
DESCRIPTION
Barbarella
Barbarella is the main character of a science fiction comic by Jean-Claude Forest, dating back to 1962. Barbarella was a sexy young woman who travelled through the galaxy to have many (sexy) adventures. In 1968 a campy movie was made starring Jane Fonda as Barbarella. The comic caused a bit of a scandal because of its slightly erotic content. However, the comic was also regarded as part of the sexual revolution, and Barbarella as an embodiment of the modern, free woman.
Redesign Barbarella!
Keywords are sci-fi, sexy and campy!
Think of a new story or adventure and use this in your design!

Barbarella starring in Underwater Supersoakers of Justice. In this tale Barbarella is saving the underwater supersoaker cache from being depleted completely by the greedy shark people of Finnstripe Village. Barbarella must venture through this underwater slum to reclaim order underwater as it once was, she will make friends and enemies along the way but one thing will always stay true, her rockin' bod.
Ok jokes aside I was thinking of somehow incorporating skin into this costume not sure how to do that just yet. and I was gonna add 2 sharks to either side of her or maybe 2 other babes squirting eachother, and to top it off maybe make the title and stuff to make it look legit. I suck at values/painting/everything so any crits would be appreciated.

emerging : Great so far - I'm loving the colors!
wiggers : Man, the big hair is a great touch xD Keep an eye on the legs though, they're looking a little thin.
BAMeyer : I /dig/ the costume! Be careful not to lose her feet in the bg - the values are pretty similar. :)
fudoki The pose you've got is looking pretty static; maybe something more action-y? Also, careful on the legs, the calves especially - they're looking a little lumpy.
Pixeltuner : LOVE THE DRESS! 83 Although her left arm looks a little short? Could totally just be me though.
- - - - -
Here's what I have so far - Any crits or tips would be greatly appreciated. :) I'm planning on amping up the contrast a bit - I need more dark grays - but if anyone else can see anything I'd love to hear it.

Just a quick question, what does everyone here define as campy? I envisioned 'camping gear' and homosexuality. But I think the campy thing is probably related to the era that this was created in. Any help anyone?

as quoted from wiki
Camp is an aesthetic sensibility wherein something is appealing because of its bad taste and ironic value. The concept is closely related to kitsch, and things with camp appeal are described as being "campy" or "cheesy". When the usage appeared, in 1909, it denoted: ostentatious, exaggerated, affected, theatrical, and effeminate behaviour, and, by the middle of the 1970s, the definition comprised: banality, artifice, mediocrity, and ostentation so extreme as to have perversely sophisticated appeal.[1] American writer Susan Sontag's essay Notes on "Camp" (1964) emphasised its key elements as: artifice, frivolity, naïve middle-class pretentiousness, and ‘shocking’ excess. Camp as an aesthetic has been popular from the 1960s to the present.

Wiggers looking good. i love the hair!
BAMeyer i'd watch the highlight on her left hip where the suit turns dark. it makes it look as if its jutting out unnaturally and her thighs look a little large for her body, but that may just be me. the helmet design is really nice. i really like it :) sounds like you've got a great story to go with this. can't wait to see more work on it.
fudoki i would maybe loosen the pose up some she's looking a bit stiff. and use reference if you're not sure about something. i know its just a sketch, but its so much easier to do it right in the sketch phase than to go back and fix it later. hope this helps :)
Pixeltuner beeeewbs indeed! i really hope you can find the time to finish this. its looking good and i love her outfit.
MittyMandi i think you've pretty much said what needs to be said. its looking good and i like the back lighting (because i'm not brave enough to attempt it) ^_^
emerging this is great. lurve the colors and i totally vote for big jacked up guy in the bg! can't wait to see him :)
kissorkill her hand is throwing me off. is it turned inward? because that seems kind of an awkward position. but maybe that's just me. anyway you've got a nice start, and i totally dig the robo sexiness :)
oh and here's an updated sketch. haven't worked on it much. this head cold seems to get worse the later it gets.

Going for a sort of wild west theme in combination with the Barbarella style. Need to come up with some more decorations for the outfit. And something to do with lasers... and taller platforms on the boots.
Just a quick question, what does everyone here define as campy? I envisioned 'camping gear' and homosexuality. But I think the campy thing is probably related to the era that this was created in. Any help anyone?
Just to add to emerging's description.. within this context I think it's mostly to do with overt sexuality and ridiculous sci-fi elements. Ie; audaciously impractical costumes for space travel, and laser contraptions so inappropriate they'd have Nikola Tesla spinning in his grave.

Sweet topic, im in:)
My first idea was Barbarella rescuing somebody undewater, but i dropped it... Now im thinking about creating her some kind of profile on the website - like facebook or something.. It will be far away future, almost all people on earth are living online lives, they have avatars and are spending most of the time online. So when somebody is hacking the site Barbarela must step in and rescue the cyberworld :D
Missile - nice work so far:)

November 23rd, 2010, 07:43 AM
emerging - nice start, deffinately sexy ;D
Wiggers - love the pose, try exaggerating the hips to make her more sexy
BAMeyer - Her costume has a believeable material, but like you said it would be nice to incorporate some skin, try looking at Tomb Raiders diving gear for inspiration. If she were underwater it would be cool if she were floating; creating a more interesting pose.
fudoki - try elongating the legs, or turning her at 3/4 pose so you can exaggerate her curves. Good start
pixeltuner - try curving the back inwards then outwards, atm it looks a bit stiff. Also be careful with your colours its starting to look a bit muddy - pay attention to colour temperature. I love the costume and pose.
MittyMandi - Good start, I like the pose - nice curves but be careful with her proportions the head and hands look a tad too big. At the moment it looks quite flat. Putting the contrast up will only make the whites whiter and the darks darker, and this will still result in a flat image. What you need to do is use the entire value range, not just a portion of it. Go from pure black all the way to pure white for highlights, this will add more depth and pop your character out
doombee - sexy pose, be careful with the foreground the leg perspective its looking a little disjointed flip the image to see if that helps you fix it -also try cropping the image so her back is right against the left of the canvas for a more interesting composition
kissorkill - traditional! cool stuff, is this watercolour?
fudgeloa - good start! Atm its all very soft, pay attention to edges to help define the form better. It could also benifit from a greater vaule range that I mentioned to MittyMandi
I made a quick sketch and some basic colour/costume iterations - I think I'm going to go with B - gonna make her a blue alien for that sci-fi alien sex appeal, with ofc squid hair C&C welcome

Brambor-looking good man! the head looks a little strange at the minute maybe its the hair shape
LJS- damn you should have kept the little men on!
Kissorkill-liking the watercolours good style reminds me of the Aeon Flux women
Emerging- Wow man killer start loving the edges cant wait to see the huge fella
Doombee- Great pose she means business i dont know if her heads a little small but something looks a tad off
Mittymandi-the pose looks like it could be a good one just remember if theres a moon behind her and its the only light source you wont see much detail and it may just be a sihouette, dunno if you want this or not.
Missile- Great costume idea liking the whole space cowboy theme
Clockwork Bunny- Great pose the eyes have a lot of emotion really works well
Richart-I'm liking the first few variations the latter seem to go all prehistoric and it may not suit the theme, but thats just me
Adam Schumpert- Awesome pose really like how you incorperated the feet into it to make her more playful
Quinn Simoes- Awesome hope keep the more evil look you have at the minute love it
Snootchy- Great start liking the highlights although the face looks a little out of place, cant wait to see more
I think that was everyone.. daaamn that took a while.
Tried to push the values more and its looking better cheers for the advice! still lots of work to do her face is so mannish!

Cheers Lennart! I don't pop in as much these days as I should, but Barbarella is fun. As for yours, I don't know if you're going to finish as you say Dominance war is on, but I reckon either showing all of her, or raising the cut-off on the bottom higher for more of a three quarter. I do it myself sometimes, but ankle cut off's tend to look a bit awkward. Also show her hidden arm as well! :)

Witcrack: Although I agree with you about them being a bit casual, I like where you're going with these. Yours are among the few who seem to be tackling this as a character redesign (as it states in the brief). I think a lot of people (myself included) are getting caught up in designing a new outfit for Barbarella, but not fundamentally redesigning the character. It's a very hard challenge in that regard, because in the movie she wears like 30 different outfits, all of them wildly different.

Wow, this is coming along beautifully! If I may make a suggestion though? Something about her arm on the left is bugging me. Maybe it's me but it's reading a little more 'weird and short' than 'foreshortened'. I thiiiink the shoulder socket is a little high at the attachment? Maybe others should take a look at it too, I often have trouble with my shoulders too. :blah:
I also suggest changing the shape or type of her space-gun, since it's almost the exact width, size, and continual line of her arm right now.
The colors and lighting though are lovely, keep going! I especially love her glowing hologram map!
P.S. I noticed the vagina chair. Don't think I didn't!

Her whole figure looks very flat. Her hips and shoulders especially look put together oddly and her boobs are oddly squished together- her right boob especially.
You mentioned her left eye but her whole face has a Picasso-esque slant to it. The nose is oddly placed, her mouth is off center, her eyes don't line up. If you didn't mention wanting to change it I would have thought you were purposefully trying to make it more abstract.
YOu might want to consider making it more stylized.
To quote Picasso, "I practiced the old masters until I realized I could never paint like them because I was clumsy. So I decided to capitalize on my clumsiness."

this is my sexy futuristic barbarella with base values. still working on the costume design... :)
emerging she is absolutely gorgeous, and the angel....oh...em...gi can i have him assigned as my guardian angel plz? still i would say the placement of her left hand is a bit too suggestive? especialy as i see a shape emerging through the brushes that form the cloth :P was that intentional?
thanks! yes it is deliberate but i wanted to make sure it's not the first thing that jumps out to the audiences. Here is an update. Almost done.

This is almost an essay. Lol.
Seablossom - Looking really good, I like the setting you put her in, it's good to see some story to your character. The anatomy is looking goos although I think the hands need a little work, maybe a big bigger and visible?
RichLyons - Love the pose the space and very sexy, your line work shows so much I hope that the coloured version will be just as striking.
Emerging - Stunning, sexy and eye popping. She kinda reminds me of Aeon Flux. I love the outfit, the female sign definitly signifies that she's kicking it through space and kicking ass for females. Haha.
gtgauvin - Cool pose, I really enjoy your lines. I like how you've put alot of detail into the costume it really looks mech. Do i see some wings soming along?
LaFairy - First off yes I do think you need to realign the eye, but no biggie. I like the colour scheme you're working with the blue and black are very striking, are you going to continue with that theme into the costume?
Dawnusllaw - Rawr, birthday costume. Haha, Can't wait to see what you produce next it's looking really good. The anatomy is delicious but i think the gun she's holding maybe needs to look a bit more like a gun? Dunno what do you think?
fudoki - Oh I like your simple lines, I'm hoping you do a colouring style to compliment this. Also her smug look it awesome. :D
IDP - Poor girl, lets hope she can make some adjustments to it without causing a lack of air. Haha. I love the pigtails, it's good to see a different style. Her face is classic, cant wait to see what you do with it.
Brambor - Love the colour scheme, the red and blue go very nicely together her hair almost looks neon. I noticed that her right foot is a little high when that leg is closer to us, do you think it might need to be level or am i just seeing it wrong? Either looks great. :D
LJS - Interesting concept, it's good to see a big girl make it sexy. Her face is really cute, she seems nice but im not sure she has the badassery that Barbarella portrays. Although I think now that she's bigger her name suits her better. Nice one.
AdamSchumpert - Great compositions and colour scheme, I saw the original sketch for this and I'm glad you went through with her using the control station with her foot, it shows her personality well. One thing that bugs me slightly is the angle of the light connected to the chair she's on. May just be me though.
Witcrack - Nice perspective, I love that in both pics it seems like that characters are popping out the page. If you go with something like the second pic, you should definitly continue the colouring style you've got going on with the jumper.
KafkaDreams - I'm liking the pose very sexy and very Barbarella, I would love to give crits but it's abit hard to see your linework with a picture as dark and small as that. I'm sorry. S:
Reginanegra - Great kickass pose, she looks like she's just given me the look o get out my way or ill use them both. The anatomy looks great, cant wait to see what else you produce.
Kittymeow84 - Love the colours you've chosen and the hair makes me feel like shes a punk, which i think could totally suit Barbarella. Interesting weapon design is that a cross bow?
Smolin - The colour scheme for this is awesome, loving the specular lighting and she does look a little naive, I guess you're right about your asumption if she was naive and innocent then cheerleader suits her well, she is a space cheerleader!
Rex-craft7 - I'm liking what you've got so far, she certainly does look sexy and spacey. There's nothing wrong with the referencing, just so long as you didnt trace which i can see you didnt. tracing would defeat the whole purpose of getting a reference, im sure you learnt alot from studying the image. Great work can't wait to see where you go with it. :D
rgeorge - Oh awesome great to see that you've taken a scene into account. The creature companion is great to see, but what exatly is she doing with it? Also one thing I've noticed is that the legs and arms look great but the torso seems a little short. Otherwise it's a great start cant wait to see more.
Caanan02 - I'm liking the pose very sexy, can't wait to see what you do with the face and the material falling behind looking really nice. Keep it up.
Thélema - Loving the pose the you've chosen vety sexy and inncocent. The colouring is starting to look really great can't wait to see where you go with it.
insipidalien - Ahhh your username is hard to write! Okay on topic, Love the details that you've put into the whole thing, the sketches really show off what you're going to do with the colouring once get you past the base colour stage. The anatomy is great and the boobs look fantastic, as for crits the only thing that bugs me is her eyes, one a little higher than the other.
MittyMandi - Love the idea of the backlighting that you've got going on. I dont think that you need to start over it's a great start, you juve need to pump up the contrast. If she's that close to the light source she's going to be a lot brighter which will look really striking and nice. :D
Anim8ergrl - Great start, I really like the sketch it shows alot of detail and future ideas. I think that the coloured version is a little murky, but it is a wip so i cant wait to see where you go with it. :)
AlyFell - Awesome costume , the heart breats hole very classic very camp very Barbarella, the colouring you've done so far is amazing! the blues and purples go really well together also the rocket pack looks really nice too. One thing that bugs me is the angle of the helmet, it doesnt quite match the perspective you've drawn, but maybe that's just me. Cant wait to see where you go with it.
Fudgeloaf - Very sexy, great wip, the values and tones are looking really nice. But you may want to check the anatomy of her hips and shoulders, they seems a little off, but alas it's a wip cant wait to see what you do next. :D
Teapo - Great start, i can see the mood and feel already, lets see some more from you! :D
Snootchy - Wow, nice shading already. The anatomy is looking great, although the lighting on her leg is getting to me a bit, either way it looks great and it very sexy. Keep it up.
QuinnSimoes - Ohhh nice, I'm glad to see something dark and misterious in contrast to the rest of the character concepts. The headset really makes me feel like she's in charge, great pose anatomy and the black scary hands rock my world. Can't wait to see when it's done.
Richart - Awesome great to see multiple concepts, each one has thier own looks and feel very nice. The blue girl is a great concept but I feel like C has more personality. Very dark very kickass. Cant wait to see your final. :D

Good point. It's more of a lazyness issue I'm afraid when it comes to drawing feet. :p But you're right: Either make her fully grounded or do a little cropping.

LJS your drawing is good and it's coming along, but why did you choose to draw a fat girl? Barbarella material hints that she's slim. I also think the pose makes little sense at this stage. Work on her shoulder that's visible too, that area is not right. Hope it helps, good luck.

Perhaps he is trying to make a comment about modern society? remember, Barbarella is a figure that symbolizes a free modern woman (modern of that time). I think, as absurd as it may seem, the fat Barbarella is a fresh take on this idea to symbolize today's overweight population. With my painting I also wanted to bring up a stir and put in a little bit of religious connotation where I am bridging the religion and sexual perversion - hence she is sexually attracted to an angel figure.
I think LJS has some valid and deeper meaning behind this and we should all not be close-minded to screaming ideas like that. Afterall, we are artists and it's our job to stir shit up hahah
I do agree though, anatomy needs a bit of work - ESPECIALLY her right shoulder. Maybe if you aligned the whole arm to her body so we see the side of the gun it would look more natural? Just some thoughts

fudgeloaf: thanks mate, yea that was a quick 25min sketch still got to fix a lot of anatomy issues and the face i painted was just a place holder for an idea, thanks will definitely keep those issues in mind as this chow progress! Great start, I think your pose definitely exudes sexy just some work with the anatomy will help the character read better!
Jaunay: thanks for the tip on the leg, i always have trouble with the lower portion of the body and really should tackle the hardest parts first! great update, i like the stylized face ur going for, keep pushing the anatomy and forms, still in the early stage but helps to establish forms early on so that you can design the clothing around the contours of the body!
wow so many great sketches so far! actually i was going to take a break from the chow but seeing some big name chow champs in here really wanted to participate in this one!
keep up the goodness all and hope everyone had a great holiday!
small progress, had no idea what camp was but after some research today saw that it has to do with exaggeration cheezy'ness found this french term se camper 'to pose in an exaggerated fashion'

Jaunay: no prob, and great to hear that u will continue work hard through the problem solving! It can get quite stressful and I used to get a bit like that, but helps to take one step at a time, like your last sketch is a good thumb sketch, i think the next step is to think about the forms and to get that to gel. Then work on the mood of the painting with colors. I mean there are many different ways to approach a sketch just figure since we seem to be working in the same flow would seem like a good way to take baby steps to the final image. As for color, I'll post a thing tomorrow on it, got work early in the morning tomorrow so will post an update after work, keep up the hardwork!!

You didn't just make this then did you?
This is the method that I've been using as of late and I find that the colours can be to dull and lacking so you're right painting over them will fix that. Haha I appreciate the tutorial pose too. Lemming clone: nice colouring. I find a little odd her nose and legs, you should work a little more in them.

Jan Jager: She looks absolutlely lovely.
Snootchy: Good work with values, but I think your Barbarella's arms are a little shorter than they should. Her neck is short too, and her boobs should be placed slightly lower. Also, you should work a bit more on her face, make her more "happy" looking, you know : P she looks a little angry to me.

Thélema: Love the colors and her design! I'm not sure what you're planning for the background, but it'll probably need quite some work to produce a nice composition. Also the breasts look very asymmetrical.
Gloombunny: I think the black is killing it. Maybe you could use some dark saturated blue, or something to replace all the black, and also try to balance the darks and lights on her dress better, I think.
lemming: I'd like to see better how you'll work out the composition with that circle in the back, and her legs look stumpy to me. I do like her design.

@Thélema - her hips seem all messed up. I think you made the legs too thin and attached them too low on the hip. Here's a reference photo that has the hips and torso turned a little more towards the viewer.

I don't think there's as much abdomen on a woman as you've put in and the weird panties just accentuate all that space. The bottom half would probably be fine if there was less space between it and the torso, and the top half would be fine if the legs started further up but together they manage to look unnatural.

So I had 2 hours to work on it a bit more. Tomorrow I will have to remember to do a flip... and some parts still need highlights.
Is the face any better now?

I know it's stupid to lead a robot around on a leash, but I just sort of ran out of ideas. May be she's on a mission to subdue a rebellion where a bunch of rogue robots have gone crazy, and....yeah, that's it. May be a beast would work better but I can't draw fur.

some quick crits on everyone's work
bluki I like the first sketch best, very unique and different from all the other entries. The headgear on the third is awesome too. Very sci-fi cartoon
LA-Fairy Much better than before, I think you've made alot of progress, but for some general crits- her butt is sagging too low. The butt and crotch end at roughly the same place on the leg but hers seems to curve down into the thigh. Her neck slopes into her right shoulder at too steep an angle. Bring her shoulder up and she won't have such a saggy posture. the blue hairpiece is sitting too low on her head, it looks like its cutting into her skull since there isn't room for hair underneath it. Her right cheekbone seems to be lower than her left and her the right side of her mouth is lower than the left. Remember the mouth curves around the face. Sorry for all the negative crits, I don't want it to seem like I don't like your piece, I think there's a lot of strong points and you've made it tons better than before.
buffichar I'm not sure what's going on in your piece. Is her hand in a glove gun? What's floating in front of her? A sleeve? An alien? Is she taking her clothes off? Why does it look like her space suit has three sleeves? but most of all, Wheres her lower body?
lemmingclone I like the colors in your piece but her legs look extremely stubby. They only appear to be about two heads long. Lengthening them will make her more realistic and much sexier.
ostrander Your piece is awesome. Love the cartoony feel to it.

crookedhorn I think having either teeth or an eye on the end of a penis is rather disturbing. Maybe a kind of deformed maw like sandworms or the Sarlac?
rgeorge it looks like she's got General Grievous on a leash

Well, to be honest, I am glad you are honest and to the point. You're not saying, "it looks great, but something seems off", like I get on other boards, or just a plain, "the nose looks weird", you point out what is not working so I can see the error and fix it, and hopefully note it for the future, so I really honest to god appreciate it, Thank you! Come critique my sketchbook sometime, god knows I could use more helpful critique!

LA Fairy - have you tried flipping your canvas horizontally? it can be really useful to show things that are out of alignment/proportion. Also, be careful about cropping her ankle at the bottom of the canvas, it looks awkward.
bluki - if you are going for something kid of updated, I prefer the far right outfit/design. But the first one would be awesome for something a little more serious (less cute, more space queen). Very cool stuff.
crooked horn - nice progress... I'd like to see what the monster looks like with just an eye. Also maybe bring in something more of a texture/sinewy feel, not so smooth (I'd make him a really GROSS penis monster ;) )
rgeorge - I like the robot, it works. Something about her hips/middle feels a little lumpy to me, maybe try and bring out those forms more (esp with latex clothing, lots of opportunity to show the underlying form), and her feet look too large for the rest of her (or maybe the arms and head or small, the proportions could use some tweaks) Nice beginning... :)
Three nineteen - I like this beginning, not much to add since it's so early - def see if you can push the 'campiness' in her costume since the pose is so static.
A little more progress from me:

Jessi - nice to see you joining in. :teeth: Beautiful as always! I especially enjoy the aliens Barbarella has encountered in your piece. Their cute appearance add a nice touch of naivety and humor. I'm also really digging the warm palette you've used.
CrookedHorn- I like were this is going can't wait to see were the final ends up. The only thing that I would have to say about your progress is that I think the original harness you had for her mount was the better design. The small balls on the bit and bridle you have atm look a little to much like eyes imo, and it just seems odd that anyone would attach reins to a mounts eyes. It might just be me but that is how it kind of reads atm. ;)
Pixeltuner - sorry about your mac it stinks that you are having to sit this one out due to a hardware problem. :[
Quinn Simoes - this is a little creepy and awesome! :) lovin' the dark/evil looking Barbarella
Well progress is going slower than I'd like but got some more done tonight. :confident

Adam Schupert: Yup :/ I'm more worried about my Dominance War Entry though.. :D
Your piece is gorgeous. She looks kinda villainy like she's having her own sm-dominatrix vessel? Maybe add more penismachines ;)

Kafka Dreams & JessiBean thanks for your advices, Personally I also go with the 1st design, because probably it's the most campy feel, also the design got some influences from Flash Gordon and Lady Gaga a bit more sci-fi and fashion mashup.. haha
anyway this is my update for today, I hope I can finish this tomorrow, planned just focused on character rendering, and leave the background empty.

small update from me, trying a different workflow then my usual so I might not finish in time for the poll, but I'll give it a try. Really epic topic, can't wait to see all the finals!

Adam Schumpert::yes! i agree. it is supposed to be a prince Albert rig. I'm gonna work that rig a bit more, and as JessiBean suggested, try out the single eye and add some stid-tastic texture. as for your piece, I like the camera angle you have going here. nice colors, but she seems like she would be piloting a gundam or be part of the pepper project more than being a barbarella. granted though, it is one of the top rendered pieces on this thread. very nice interaction with the foot and screen, and great eye contact with the viewer.
JessiBean::yes mam ;) I am really diggin the colors you are producing. you have a nice transparent feel to your aliens that im really impressed with. really like the total scene, which sets the narrative well. excited to see the finished work:rocker: (ps thanks for all the suggestions)
Kafka Dreams::I was thinking of going that rout. i will play with it when i get home and see what comes of it.....ha! that means two things :tihi:
gtgauvin:: i like the pose. your costume has a nice futuristic feel to it. And just because Jessibean and Aly are participating in this round doesn't mean "the rest of us are doomed" . Personally, it inspires me to work harder, considering their rep and skill. I would hope it does the same for everyone else as well.
Aly:: if you read above, thats why I get excited when you and JessiBean participate in CHOW. That and every time you do, I learn something from your pieces. Excited for your finish.
I should probably get back to work, but will drop some sort of wip later tonight when I can get back in front of my wacom tablet.

Thank you Jessi, I will do the flip as soon as I open it today.
I love the angle you used.. I wish i could use those angles.LOL I need to lose weight so I can take my own reference shots xD
Bluki, I love the smoothness of the colors and the energy of the pose!

OK I had some more time to work on this, got rid of the robot behind her, still thinking of keeping the ones on the ground but time's running out. Doubt I'll finish. At this stage I'm trying to get her mostly done before working the environment.
Cheers!

@CrookedHorn: Please don't misunderstand, that comment was made in jest. I know CHOWs are more than just a chance to jockey for status. After all, I've been getting consistently thumped in the voting rounds for about the past four years, and yet I keep coming back for more, because it's always just so damn much fun!

Jaunay: no prob and hope it helps, yea it took me about 25 minutes to put together, sorry for the crappy example was just trying to clarify some of that color process, hehe no worries, i think everyone's improvement is an advantage for the community as a whole, keep up the hardwork!
Thelema: big thanks for the indepth crit and you hit em all on the money! yea the face and even proportions were still very much in wip phase, i don't move onto colors or leave it as monochromatic until i'm happy with the forms/proportions but will definitely keep those points in mind! as for crit on ur sketch, i really like the mood of it all and definitely has a nice campy feel to it, only thing is that i think some of the forms/anatomy could be worked on to increase readablity, i see that your trying to show the form twisting in that torso but the values are a bit off especially where the panties are, the panties don't work with the contours of the form it looks like 2 different perspectives for the upper half compared to the lower half, definitely some work is required in that pelvic region, keep it up though ur doing great!
so after work yesterday, had a night out with one too many drinks and was feeling horrid today, just starting to feel better, bit disappointed that I might not be able to finish this one =( looks like everyone is doing great keep up the hardwork everyone!
here's where i got before the crazy night out...

I like it, very american comics style!! I think there is something off with the chair prospective and the proportions of the anatomy... like the legs are small kind of thing! But good job, I can see that you put a lot into it, and thanks for shearing it.
