Here are a few stories I've been working on. If any of you have been working as a storyboard artist, or have had much experience, I'd like to hear what you have to say...comments and/or advice.

Looked at your first story board, with the frog, and it was amazing.

I was able to understand what was happening in every frame and it was extremly fluid as far as pace goes. Hell I even laughed at a few of them, great work.

They both communicate very well. Enjoyed the frog one the most. Good job.

Thanks guys. It's nice to see they worked. Now, how could I make them even better?

Hey David!

Your storytelling abilities are pretty good ;) I think one thing storyboard artists forget is...location. So we have a medium shot of the pond your frogs are in... but where is it?

Give us a nice establishing shot, maybe a pan across the area before trucking into the pond area. You could use the fly as your camera movement, moving him across the area and past the pond, having the camera follow him and then pause on the cat's tails intro shot while the fly moves O.S. left. Just a thought.

I think if you were going to use this as a portfolio piece, or something to show, you may want to consider writing in the type of shots above and to the left of the image and the actions/sound fx below the image. Your storyboards read very clearly though ;)

You may wanna play around with a few things if you do more storyboards... Try working loosely in a felt based marker, and then hitting your boards with some pastel or some type of color. Play around with camera angles as it seemed like a lot of straight on shots moving either left or right.

There's a great storyboarding book out there that I use for reference called Setting Up Your Shots by Jeremy Vineyard. I HIGHLY recommend it :) That is, if you don't already have it ;)

Seriously cute stuff though. Can't wait to see more.

hay guys, I had a lot of positive response from the frog story, so I guess that it's on the right kind of track (still some work to be done though), so I've decided to try to touch on one of my other stories. I've been working on the paperboy story, adding a bit more life to it. Let me know if you like where it's going.
