Your knowledge of photoshop's painting features is impressive and you have a great deal of control of it, and use this to create a moody scene.
However, there are fundemental problems with your rendering, knowledge of shapes and lighting, which i think you should address before moving on. The light source should be the moon, and you should bear this in mind as you visualize your shading. All the sides of shapes facing the moon should be highligthed and the sides facing away should be in shadow. Keep this in mind as you work. Also, remember the things you are rendering are 3D shapes, not flat objects. Use the lighting coming down from the sky to flesh out their 3D natures, dont just place highlights round the edges and shade the center. Pencil sketching is the best way to develop your shading abilities, as it is cheap and fast.
If you can master these aspects, with a great deal of sketches, i think coupled with your skill at painting you can really be good.

thanks for the kind reply's
I agree most of my images seem kind of flat and I do just add a "glow" layer above to give it some kind of aura...I do that allot because I just don't know how to make it stand out...
I do need to work on how to make my images more 3dish..
if anyone can suggest some tutorials?
also if anyone lives in Toronto Canada
and knows some college courses on illustration or art?
im planning to go to college in September
but im not sure where yet....
oh...1 more thing...i added the halfmoon after i did the clouds... i wanted a more "cartoonish" feel and the moon kinda added that .. yah i know the light sources dont add up well... :(

hmmm, in my oppinion, the smoke is not opaque enough...it looks too solid, and sharp, and it shouldnt split up into so many dirrections at the end...maybe making it more swirled looking would help?
