OK now , this is an idea I came up with after doing all the “browsing through forums” thing ( not only CA’s but also others alike) in search for job opportunities, and in many cases getting the polite “ no thank you that’s not the style we’re looking for “ or the mere state of ignoring my replies. Generally many artists have one style or deal with one genre in art (and I’m talking here about comic artists), but I’ve realized that this can be an obstacle in the way of getting you a job or get published, and to prove to yourself – and genuinely to others- that you are a very diverse, multi- talented artist then you should have a richly various multi- styled (genre) portfolio; basically this is related to how good you are and how fertile your imagination is; on the other hand there are artists that can simply trigger their imagination or creativity when they get a description –or even just a name- for a new character, or set…etc, but other than that some artists end up with portfolios full of copies of DC, MARVEL, MANGA, CARTOONS characters ( or what’s simply called Fan Art)but this would be unfulfilling and unrewarding job most of the times. The only scale for your talent to be judged upon is to do a totally different characters and sets: human, superheroes, aliens, cyborgs, animals...etc, so I thought why not using others' ideas? Now hold on don’t rush into judgments, I know this might sound like “stealing” but it’s not, trust me, the thing is you take a post, making sure first that it’s owner has already chosen the right person for the job, or to be a neglected post, or ignored one that has been out there for a long time- let’s say two months or so; then coming up with a design for the character or set, letting imagination and vision have their full impact, then uploading the piece to your portfolio; of course not forgetting to give the credit for the original ideas’ maker. This can not only promote your portfolio and wide your chances but it will also serve the owner of the concept by giving her/him a free ad. Now I’m working on three posts, almost finishing, but before taking the next step I thought of sharing this with you and having your opinions.
