Man those are some really nice pieces. I love that u gave the close up version. It lets me appreciate it more. I love the paint strokes. Good job. I really like the vampire chicks face. LOVE THE EARS!!!! although I would choose a light source if I were u. just like the one uptop, the left side is in shadows and the right in light. That would help out the vamp chick!!!

keep em comin !!!

Wow! I really like them.
The only thing that distrub me a little are the two white points on the vampire girl´s nipples, if they´re highlights they should point the same direction...

They are just great!!! please more!!!!

That's some really nice work!
C&C requested...
My pref. would be to place some kind of complementary graduated color(s) or modeled mid-tone as a back-drop, especially on the vampire...like a subtle green acidy texture...but then, I'm a big fan of Justin Sweet's type of work... (but then again, maybe you already tried it and didn't like it...)

one last comment, the hard shadow line on the redhead's face (her right side) seems a bit too hard for my taste, it seems to flatten her face...

the phonecord hair rocks :D

love the second pic's sumo-crotch-thing (wonders if there's an official name for that). and her inner thighs are v nice looking

the white dots on the nipples kinda bother me too

great job

Those aren't highlights on the vamp's happy spots, she has her nipples pierced.

I love both of them, very nice work!

Crits: In the first one it seems like the shadow on her right cheek turns dark to sudden, maybe a mid tone between the two points of light?

Is that a tongue hanging out of the second one's mouth? if so it seems a little flat, like a ribbon./

Edit: never mind, I now see that its blood, but it still could use more of a violently being blown by the wind look to it, like the hair.

I was wondering when you were going to get around to posting some color work...it was worth the wait. I can't help but see your SP in the top picture. The simplicity of your brushwork is stellar.

Hey thanks guys!!!:p . I'm kind of a newbie at color. I usually work in pencil.

talos72: Thank you very much:chug: . most is the painter6 water color, simple round. i also use the camel roundhair. sometimes a little digiairbrush....

iwasink: Thank you very much:chug: . I agree w/you 100% about the shadow. hopefully my next will be better.

livingrope: Thanks man!!!!!!!:chug:

Jaku: Thanks very much:chug: . I will fix those white thingys...twas getting late and my eyeballs and brain were fading.

prismacolor: Thanks sooo much:chug: . and yes, you are right! I'll get it right one of these days:p .

zeitgeist: Thanks a lot!!!:chug: . yes, ^, the little white thingys are bothering me too. fix-it time!!!

Coma: Thanks man!:chug: . you know, i was playing around with the blood a lot. it behaves so differently than other liquids. I had vague images in my head from gore movies but....couldn't get it right...NOT YET!!!!:p .

blankfrank: Thank you man!:chug: . LOL. it's soo true. that's my nose!!!:p . doing those spods taught me a lot. however i was wondering if it would haunt me. i'm glad you point that out though...i need to make sure i refine my images if they start to look like me too much:p .

thanks guys!!! CHEERS!!!

I think from doing self portraits so much you didn't even realize how much likeness the first girl has to you... Maybe get a ref and fix her face up a little more. Also her face does look a little flat.. Make her face have depth.. right now it looks sort of like it it concave... with the harsh shadow on her left cheek.

Otherwise nice work keyth... "keep em coming!"

nice work homie! very confidently rendered. i particulerly like the bottom one..VERY strong....now the critique... warm light cool shadows... china doll like skin is all well and fine, but i would be tempted to knock a little coolness into the shadows, and maybe a little warmth in the highlights. not a lot, and not on the whole piece, but just in areas you want the eye to rest...and while we're talking about eyes...the shadows around the eyes look a bit dark. particularly on women, a little bit does alot. the area between the eyes in particular is way too dark for my taste. there are more flattering ways to give the "smokey" eye effect on women. look at fashion mags... i can see what you're goin for here, and you're really close. female faces are a bitch, they're way more subtle with less value range, particularly in the shadows...great job, though. i ccant wait to see more-c36

thanks soooo much for the crit justin. ya' know...it's tough. i went to a commercial arts school. we never really studied that kind of stuff...all the warms and cools. i mean i know what they are these days but... i constantly feel like i am winging it. and i don't want to just wing it. i'll keep trying and post more. colors a tough one.

After having seen so many spods from you I just dropped by curious to see what else you're doing. It only took an instant to do a right click and safe them to my disk! :D Great job! I also see the similarity to your face, like the others stated.

keyth these look wonderful - i am happy to see some different stuff from you. all those self portraits payed off. i cant remember if you were good before the self portraits or not, it might be your modesty that made me think otherwise.

these both are very good.

the first image i see a little princess or girl in a pink dress. i like the twist of dark colors in her dress very much. her face has your clean strokes. i just got a small wacom tablet from my friends that they had extra and was wondering what tools you use. i will rummage through the self portraits i am sure someone has asked before. i am not one for advice.

the second i like very much, i like your representation of a female vampress(?). my favorite part would have to be how the blood is being effected by the wind, i think this piece would look great with a background. i find these the hardest to do. i didnt notice the nipple dots but now that they were pointed out i think they are annoying. i love her clothing very much, or lack there of i guess.

fasinating work keyth,

thanks jester. it's difficult to see me in the top image (minus my nose). but you guys would know better since i'm too use to my mug. thanks again.

thanks a lot KP. hope art school is treating you well. as far as the tools i use. i have on of those big juicy 9X12 wacoms. i use painter 6&7. i usually use the round camelhair, watercolor simple round (painter6), and a little digiairbrush....sometimes. once again, thanks a lot!

more C&C, more C&C. i'm trying to beef up some color in my portfolio. hep me, hep me, hep me:p .

J ? Andrew? Sparth? Jon? anyone else? i can take it.:D

woah!! that guy looks weird, but a good creepy sort of weird. Now this one I would definetely like to see in an enviroment. I don't know if you can make one but it would complement it a lot. Also, I think it could use some brighter highlights and some darker shadows. In other words more contrast. It kind of reminds me of pumpkin head. Really nice job. keep em comin!

These rock!
