This is my first painting, really. I've been dabbling on my walls but this is my first actual "composition" in acrylics. It's about 50% done, I think, and I obviously need help. I know it's the worst scan job you've probably ever seen (whoever can guess where I pieced them together gets a cookie!) but I thought I'd throw it up here to see if I can get any criticism.

As I wasn't sure exactly how to begin I sketched the whole thing out, roughly, and then "blocked-in" the colors where I thought they should go. This is about as far as I got with most of it. I started to try and work on the sky a bit this morning, but I just don't really know what I'm doing. Any help is appreciated.
I was looking through an acrylic how-to book at Waldens today in between classes and wanted to scream. Good painters make me want to give up, but I realize I have to go through this long and painful crap stage before I can get good enough to be pleased with anything I do.
