here's something I did a while back....let me know what you think...*note, the flat color was added quickly...if this is used for print it will probably be colored different.

Sweeet! Thats bloody awesome work. Only thing is the bottom right charactor confused me for a second. Couldn't work out where that arm was coming from, but I see it now.

Minion: There's a hint of WC3, isn't there. :D

Damn man! You rock!!
I really dig your style; love the way you draw the Lich King and mcotie is right a bout the serpent, it looks nasty. IMO this work is better then any of Samwise's work. I just hope that you'd put it in full colour.

nardfrog-microns mostly...brush for large areas

angel of light-not right now...I love the setting and characters of WC and it be fun to do my take on some of the other characters...this was for a larger project though I haven't heard from them in several monthes. i actually did a rough for the Night elves too , but ended up going with the orc illo instead

thanx for the comments

These are the most unbelievably amazing drawings I have ever seen. I am going to save, print out, and then frame them. I've been working on an image of the lich, then I click here, and it's like looking into a magic window of what I could only have dreamed of accomplishing, and then beyond to everything I hope to achieve with pencil in the next decade. I am both humbled and inspired. Thank you for sharing these. Now I have to go draw....

mcotie-glad you like the pencils...I'll try to keep it up, looks like a need to get a day job now though

angel of light-um, couldn't find it...it was really rough

Idiot-thanx, glad you like these so much,... enough to want to frame them....these are low res jpegs though so your print out isn't going to look very good. I have high res prints of most of my work available...actually not these illos, because they are not my characters, but most everything else in my pen& paper gallery.(just e-mail me if interested)

bluepulse-thanx... attaching another detail of that for the hell of it

EarthClimber-thanx! these were for a Warcraft comic pitch...I never heard back from the company that commissioned them, so I'm guessing the idea was canned and these won't be used for anything...oh well.

I sent an email through your conceptart.org profile. I'm guessing that hotmail put it in your junkmail folder, because that's what it did when I sent a test email to myself recently. I'd be extremely interested in a higher res copy of one of your works, if thats still available.

Your line work and values are amazing. In the email I sent, I asked if there was one exercise in particular you'd recommend to an artist with.... less developed skills? I know that all of the basics are important, but every artist seems to have one exercise they've found especially helpful (for example Prometheus|ANJ=samples, Jason Manley=master copies). Thanks!

Yeah, I was going to try and draw like you but it was easier just to stick my pencil in my ear until I died. Now Im dead. Seriously though, unbelievably awsome work here man! Your design, lighting, linework, detail, it is all very impressive.

This is a bit of a pipe dream, but I don't suppose you could post your entire process? I (and every one else I am sure) would love to see how you work from thumbs to sketches on up.

I just wanted to note that your obvious knowledge and use of anatomy is really impecable.

kudos to that!

whats your background/education?

in other words... how the fuck?!

April 9th, 2004, 12:07 AM
You said that you use microns mostly but you have such great feathering, do you just go over and over with the micron until you get that tapered line? Also, I notice most of your works are a b&w with a color layover (?) Do you actually work with different color inks or do you photoshop some areas to add the color?

wow-lots o questions...

CH-PERALTA-thanx

Idiot & maldrin-yeah, I have prints available of many of my illos and I still have few copies of a self produced art book I made to sell at a con last year...you can contact me for more info at:
chaosdestiny at mybluelight dot com

just try to push yourself to make each drawing better than the last

Clandestine_IX-thanx, basically my process is just : rough sketch, tight pencils, inks...maybe I can post more of that sometime

Tad- I have an art & design degree from Iowa State U... it didn't really help much with what i do...mainly it's just been self taught.

Hale- yeah, some lines take a couple stokes with a Micron...the color tones are added in photoshop

nevershotdown-thanx for the advice:)

-Andy

April 12th, 2004, 10:22 AM
These are totally incredible... I love the pencil drawing even more than the near-perfect inks...

Can you post your Night Elf sketch too? If it's anything like your UD drawing, I believe everyone here will want to oogle it as well. (And I'm a Night Elf player, eheheheh...)

synthetINK
April 13th, 2004, 08:32 PM
kleer- thanx...glad you like the color tone

Aerythes- not sure where that sketch is ...it was very rough

I was wondering if anyone on here might have contact info for Blizzard?...if you could drop me an e-mail that would be great:

Your inking work is amazing. I am glad to see work of people who spend time to really *finish* their work.

Fantastic. The pencil WIP is great, as well, and I might even prefer the pencil to the inked; but on a different level. Pencil work can have such a beautiful quality, that is hardly ever kept when inking, etc... I'd like to one day see some finished pencil works of yours.
