I'm pretty much a beginner, you can look at my sketchbook in my signature to see my most recent stuff. I really want to dig into environments, and I feel I'm not guided very well for it. I've been reading books on perspective and landscaping, and that has helped a little.

you are doing good for a beginner. Now you need to learn how to start to refine your large shapes, add precise details, etc. No mentor can really help you just guide you. It's up to you to practice so you can get better and better and more precise. Use images all the time to help you out. I know that this is not an ultimate answer but a great helping method. You need to vary the size and shapes of your brushes. http://conceptartmasters.blogspot.com
