View Full Version : Need help with digital painting

Hello everyone!

I'm new to the CA.org forums, and for all intents and purposes I'm a relatively new artist (I've been drawing casually for a few years, but only got really serious about my art within the past year).

I've been trying to teach myself digital painting, but I have been having a lot of trouble with it. Specifically, I find that colors do not blend easily. When I apply my values, the value transition seems choppy and fractured in places where it should be smooth.

I realize I may not have articulated my problem very well, but does anybody have any tips on how to blend smoothly, or at least to give the illusion thereof while painting in Photoshop?

Thanks!

Thank you, Surion!

I took a look at the first part of this thread, where blending is actually addressed directly. The images are missing, but I'll try to put the tips to use as best I can. If I can get Photoshop working again.

Do you know of any other tutorials around here that address this issue? I've looked around, but it's very hard to find tips on a problem as basic as this one. Thanks again for your help!
