nice character but the background is sort of distracting and leads me down to the bottom corner of the page.. tone it down and maybe change the direction..

very nice. It looks arificial, but still very believable at the same time. I think main loop is right, need to do something diffreent with the background.

hey man, pretty cool stuff. Here's my chance to repay the crit favor, so here goes...

I like the green thing on his back...it makes him different than your average run-of-the mill death dealing robot...nice touch. Good rendering too, you obviously know how to make those forms pop. My nitpicks are pretty minor....first I would make his gun stop firing...he looks like he's jsut firing a random shot into the ground. Aslo (and maybe this is just me) but I think the fact that the angle of his gun-arm and the angle of his leg are almost the same makes for a bit of a wierd pose. Deisign wise, I might throw some coverings over the joints which look a bit fragile for a combat-orientated robot like this. I agree that the BG needs a bit more work...my eye gets a bit sucked down into the corner too. All in all though a solid peice...and I relaly like the fact that you posted the WIP so people can see the process.

cheers

D

THanks everyone.

Black, that lower part on the gun that looks liek it is firing is actualy a flame thrower and that is how it chills when not being fired. :) I like your input on the frailness of him too. All in i want him (part of my skeletronics world im starting) to remain skeletal so frailty will be prominant in many of the pieces i make. In this world they will be built out of the toughest paper mache though, so no worries they will last!!! lol

To every1 i guess the diagonal movement i wanted in the BG movent your eye too much the bottom, shame on my im a graphic design grad!!!!

oh flamethrower - I get it now! maybe just a quick up-stroke to make it look like a flame? My pickiness disgusts me.

Wow.

Everything has pretty much been covered. Maybe a more dramatic value range in the coloring of the bot. The darks don't seem dark enough.

oh wow =)
its nice to see the guy who leaves such great crits can really back his shit up!!
great post man, the only crit i have are those dark grey shapes on his abdomin, they create a bit of a dead space there and keep drawing my eyes to it, they lack the depth of the rest of the piece...maybe add some highlights to em to distinguish what they are.

good stuff man, please post more!

I friggin' love it!

Fresh - Very creative and different without being weird.

The green thing is not my favourite, it looks a bit comical on an otherwise very threatenening design.

The frailness of the joints doesn't bother me - like AMEE kind of..

Maybe if the flame didn't cross the edge of the pic, it would read better.

I love it,
I agree that the background is unbalanced, but...Great work.

Wow, excellent stuff. I love the progression shots, but I seem to like the middle one better than the final end one. Dunno why, maybe, like said above, the unbalanced background, but still, amazing work.

Keep it up
