Here's a futuristic Samurai concept I whipped up....there are some obvious parts that I didn't quite think through, but it was done rather quickly. It's also a composite of 4 scans... UGH. I hate small scanners!! Anyhow, C & C are welcome :)

interesting design, it's seems that a big majority of artists are very inspired by the asians civilizations. Well I think it's a very good thing !

The only crit fo your design is perhaps to make more contrasts with your drawing, it seems to be all in the same tone.

BTW, why did you do such a big sword ? It's a bit weird for me.

im not crazy about the sword, doesnt really fit in my opinion, everything else is amazing though

b0ne, i think people like inspired by asian civillizations because you sont see stuff like this everyday, its very different from western stuff.
and its just too damn cool

thanks for the crits guys. I agree with the large sword being out of place, but I was instructed to do so by my art director. He wanted a bit of a different take on the Battle Chaser-esque sort of look. Maybe a different style sword would've achieved the desired effect.
As for the tones, alot of it was lost in the scanning and file compression. I usually give a good sense of lighting, without hammering it too much.

Very cool work..I love the character design =D
But, the pose is kinda odd..it kind of looks like hes slipping or something lol =P
