I've been practicing my painting 'skills' with another old painting.
This one is John Singer Sargent's Mrs. Adrian Iselin. (1888)

All Photoshop.

I know it doesn't look quite like her, one of the reasons is that I minimize the ref and work without it for awhile then when I see it starts to look odd (or get stuck) I open the ref again.
The other reason might be cause I'm not that good yet. ;)

The ear is a little weird, I know. :/

Anyways, C&C welcomed.

Sorry, I know this isn't a "concept".

Thanks.

Are you painting from the ref in the link, or do you have another one? If it's the one you linked to, the skin tone is off unless you're adjusting it purposely. The ref has a golden- yellow skin. The highlights in your version are too strong. Otherwise it looks pretty good.

I couldn't find the ref I used so I just Googled one for the post.
In every pic I saw of her the colors were different so I just decided to use what I liked.

You're right about the highlights, I had them softer before but the image looked too 2d for me, so I made them a bit harder.

Thanks.
