DUDE! Thanks for posting these Mark, its great to see stuff you've done outside of class. Your skill is way beyond mine so I can't even come up with a solid critique. How long do you typically spend on these? They look like they were done very quickly, and have a lot of energy to them. What's the reason for using tracing paper? Do you like the tooth better than newsprint? I've never actually tried drawing on it with charcoal yet, I guess I should practice, in case I'm ever asked to teach at Watts (haha maybe in 10 years) Anyway great job bro! And don't worry, you ARE better :)

These are great.
I particulary like the lost edge on the indians headress. For some reason I only ever think of doing that in shadow.

harley brown is a master of edges.. some of the shadow edges on these (especially the tracing paper one) could be a bit softer, but all in all nice

really nice studies. i was at the gene autry museum the other day and saw that book in the gift shop. i almost bought it but couldn't afford to pay $75 for it. i would recommend going to the autry rite now, some really nice contemporary california painters showing their works along with cheesy old cowboy paintings- and one great n.c. wyeth illo.

Ok mark, get to work, the time it takes you to post, you could have a painting done...heh

Great work posting these up, lets send em to Harley for Crits. I bet he would give some feedback and he'd probably be pretty damned stoked on your copies...

Good luck with the ladies over break...hehhe The drawings that is.
