It only goes to show you that my theory is right. The best films are ones made outside the United States.

I've watched this trailer possibly 200 times already today. Only one thing can be said about it, pure perfection.

Who needs dialogue? They've got killer robots fighting cyber ninjas, nazis, steampunk airships, motorcycles, lense flares, and boobs!

Exo- I gotta disagree with you there. It's all a matter of taste. What American, Asian, and European movie-goers value in a film seems to be quite different, so comparing them directly in terms of "best-ness" is like comparing apples and oranges. THere's just as much corperate BS ruining potentially great movies in Japan or Korea as there is in the U.S., but their films may seem more "independent" because they are made by people with a totally different set of values. And a wicked cool trailer is no guarantee of a good movie. I can still feel the burn from Planet of the Apes and Final Fantasy....ugh...

But this one looks crazy as far as eye-candy goes.

i think what i love about japanese film is that when it goes over the top it has no worries about if the culture will accept it.

The character of casshern has such an over the top "SUPERHERO" look to it. Movies like...daredevil and punisher have to keep the character looking some what realistic for it to be belivable.

chenzan-I think that it's based on some sort of japanese comic named casshern where it's a kind of robots vs humans thing, and the main character merges with a robot into some sort of hybrid android cyborg thing to fight the robots. I dunno I was just looking around the internet, if anyone spoke japanese it would be nice to know what they were saying in the trailer

Well, one of my friends found this last night. There's three plot lines to the movie.

The first part reminded me SO MUCH of many styles I came to enjoy it was a bit suprising to seem them work and coexist in symbiosis. But then again, it's just a trailer.

It's like FF, Bilal, Matrix, shake well, tah-dah ! *faints*

I wish some movies seemed as good as this trailer.
This looks a lot like something I once saw when Sci-Fi channel did Saturday Morning Anime. As far as I know this is based on an earlier anime named Casshern Robot Hunter.

It's the old future where mankind is enslaved by machines. The movie version seems like it has a lot more potential though.

When does this come out in Japan anyway?

MrSmith

i've heard its actually about an hour into the movie before any cool action shit happens, i hope its not one of those movies that shows all the cool parts in the trailer and fills the rest with ponderous Final Fantasylike dialogue. :(

^ sounds like outakou dribble. Or hardcore action movie flicker. Personally, I can enjoy a movie without everything going to hell ; explosions, cool heroïc pose, etc. But then again I'm a fan of Bilal and the Avalon movie. :perv:

Sinix - it came out in April in Japan, to popular box office response (or so I understand). And it only cost ~$6 mil. Most of the early reviews I've seen have been very positive. And yes, they also say it is not primarily an action movie, very dialogue heavy; a film about senseless violence and the psychological and physical tolls of war.
