I am currently seeking artists to undertake the following cover commissions (http://sites.google.com/a/andreakhost.com/covers/):
Stained Glass Monsters cover (http://sites.google.com/a/andreakhost.com/covers/home/stained-glass-monsters-cover) - two figures, rural background, potentially difficult 'trick with light'.
Champion of the Rose cover (http://sites.google.com/a/andreakhost.com/covers/home/champion-of-the-rose-cover) - single figure, lots of climbing rose vines, may suit an art nouveau style.
The Silence of Medair cover (http://sites.google.com/a/andreakhost.com/covers/home/the-silence-of-medair-cover) - single figure, darkened room, background of a door blocking fire.
Stray cover (http://sites.google.com/a/andreakhost.com/covers/home/stray-cover) - single figure, background of trees, hills, distant lake.
Lab Rat One cover (http://sites.google.com/a/andreakhost.com/covers/home/stray-cover/lab-rat-one) - same figure as Stray cover, in antiseptic futuristic hospital room.

Rights sought
Rights sought are set out in detail in the Sample Agreement (http://sites.google.com/a/andreakhost.com/covers/home/sample-agreement), but in short are for World English releases for both a print-on-demand trade paperback and ebook of each novel. I would also use the images on my site and may wish to crop the images when using them on the site (ie. as a banner). No use of the images is sought outside the books and promotion of the books.
Payment
I have budgeted a flat rate of $1,000 USD for each cover. [I have also written a secondary payment into the purchase order should sales exceed 10,000 units, but as I am a self-published author, sales are likely to be in the tens, not the tens of thousands] And, of course, a copy of the relevant book.
I much prefer Paypal as the means of payment.
Preferred styles
These are covers for fantasy and sf novels with a strong emphasis on character. A very abstract or strongly anime style will probably not suit.
Non-cover Commission
In addition, I have a smaller commission to provide a cleaned-up version of one of my sketches, which I intend to use on my site, and potentially on t-shirts (again with a market of practically no-one). My limited drawing and graphics software skills are not equal to making this image as 'nice' as I want it to be, but I already have the rough design. I am offering a flat rate for the Lab Rat Sketch (http://sites.google.com/a/andreakhost.com/covers/home/lab-rat-sketch) of $100 USD. I would prefer the copyright of this image to be held by me.
Time Frame
I would prefer commissions to be completed by mid-November 2010, but the time frame is non-critical and can be adjusted.
