this is about as good as it gets for me. i can draw people moderately, if that, but i never can figure out how to color them right. :bash: and all the tutorials i've seen skip the use of brushes and settings and stuff. i would really appreciate some help! thanks!

all i can suggest is to work more with a pencil, eraser and sketchpad b4 you try and delve into wacom tablet work. Trust me i know i had an artz12x12 and you can get a ton of slowdown if your not optimized for it with the right hardware, etc. Also give yourself time to adjust to the tablet too since it's smooth it's hard to get used to.

crop it, and add a light source, all i see is shadow, and add some features like clothes, hair..that sort of thing

you need to think more about it. everything has its base in reality.

1) your perspective is off on the wall/floor area

2) where is her other arm? the right shoulder/arm area is very unclear and looks wrong at the moment, here chest has no volume

3) her boobs are all over the place

4) the top of her head is too big/bulbous. the head feels flat and has no solidity/3d-ness

these are all things that should be right in the drawing, way before you start to paint.

as far as the painting goes, its very early on so all i can crit really is the shadows/light source:

think about your light source, where is it coming from? how bright is it? what colour is it? why are some of your shadows pink and others brown, yet they are shadows from the same light source? the pink in the shadow suggests a green light source (shadows usually contain some of the opposite colour of the light source), but your light source looks to be a warm yellow (which would suggest shadows with blue in them). the brown shadows make no sense in relation to the other shadows.

in short, you must have a good underdrawing first, painting a poor drawing is going to make the painting look bad no matter what. basically, take care of the drawing first, then try painting. painting is the same as drawing, in that you must Paint What You See, Not What You Think You See

as for tutorials, Prometheus|ANJ has a good tut (http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/ps55doc.htm) which includes some info on his brushes
