View Full Version : Paintballer Drawing (after many weeks of rest)

I've been busy with other things, so I have not been able to draw or continue my drawings lately. Anyway, to occupy my mind during a flight, I took my sketch book along. I decided to finally work on an old drawing I had started many weeks ago. To avoid creating a new post, I'm just editing this one, which has the original image.

I wanted to experiment, so I sketched with my blue pen also, so that's what the markings are.

Anyway, I think I'm going in the right path with this drawing. Any comments and tips? What could I add in the blank space? I thought about another bunker with teammates behind it.

Thanks for the help!

I have started this yesterday, and I feel ready to begin shading. However, something about the hopper (paintball carrier on top of gun, for those of you who don't know) seems out of alignment. To me to it looks as though it is facing more to the right.

It's hard to explain, but imagine you are looking at the gun from above, now picture the tip of the barrel at 12o'clock. I see the tip of the hopper at 1 o'clock, or 1:30.

Is it just me or did I draw it wrong?
Other tips/comments/feedback is appreciated!

looks fine to me. Maybe enlongate the hopper a bit, but looks like the real deal to me. The shading might also pull it together for you.

Actually, if that shot is from above, it looks like he's holding it sideways.

i would add the blue more consistently throughout the picture.

make the values deeper with a blue colored pencil along with your pencil.

also add more detail to the rock(?) you're hiding behind because it's quite plain as of now.

i also assume this is outside(?) if so add trees and plants, but i stress this. USE REFERENCES for your plants and trees. You've clearly used references for your gun, and that is currently the best part of your picture. learn from this and start using references for all parts of your drawing and not only will your drawings get much better but you will get much better at drawing!

good luck!
