Well, I am calling this done. I just don't want to work on it anymore. The thing is I don't like it so much, and it ticks me off that I can't make it look the way I want. But then again it was an excellent lesson for me on rendering rock, and shiny surfaces, so it was worth it.

I saw this one as it developed on the WIP forum. It really turned out pretty good. I just have a few suggestions.

The composition is a little bit weak. I'd move the whole picture down in the frame a bit so the statue thing at the top isn't so close to exiting frame. That would help eliminate some of the dead space at the bottom too. I'm glad you added that framing element in the foreground at the bottom, but it's not quite enough. Maybe make it darker so it comes forward more and we just look past it. I think this picture would look great from a sort of worm's eye view perspective. It would be a lot more dynamic that way. (Just in my opinion of course, perhaps it wouldn't.)

It's weird, your rendering on the rocks is really great, but they still bug me in a way. The texturing you did on them looks really accurate and realistic, but the way they are formed together into that big peak sort of defeats the realism. I know it's a fantasy piece, but I think it would help if the mountain formation looked more real.

Last thing. Sorry this turned out to sound like I don't like the piece, I really do like it. The styles on the rocks and on the cities and metal don't match. The rocks have a more realistic feel, the rest has a bit more stylized feel to it. The contrast kind of causes the picture to flatten out.

yeah, I saw the progress of this one too. I also think some more vacant space at the top might make a difference. Also the pillar under the lrg city bugs me a little. Maybe a slightly darker/shadowed colour may make it more distinguishable from the waterfall. Still came out very well though. Like the robot a lot.

Thxn for the crits guys!

Simm - Thnx!

Flop Wombat - Yeah, I regret the composition more than anything. It would have had much more kick from an aerial view or a worms eye view. I also spent the most time on the rock shading which is why it loks more realistic than anything else. The rock formation was my first real attempt at drawing rock and it does look a bit stiff.

Grinn-Thank you as well!

Hoopa- Yeah, I would have liked to distinguish the pillar from the waterfall too, but the pillar sort of lost its sense of reflectiveness when I did that, so I stuck with it the way it is.
