View Full Version : Half-Life 2 Van Model Needs Skin

if more pics are needed, I can post them, the model is somewhere around 4k in polies, its for the half-life 2 mod No More Room In Hell (http://www.NoMoreRoomInHell.com) and also needs to be unwrapped. Its going to have an interior as well, pretty detailed.
If anyone would be up to doing this, let me know.
We have a very active forum community so speak about it on there if you have something that needs to be answered asap.
The model is in .OBJ format (XSI exported) and I can put it in .3ds if needed...maybe a few errors in the model will result though, it happened once...

Here is what happened when I imported it into 3ds max...with wavefront plugin in 3ds max 6.
Right now it lacks an interior I believe.

lol, adam i dont think 3d pieces fly very well on this forum anymore- its gone more traditional- try posting on cgtalk or eatpoo. :chug:

I don't know anyone who would really want to tackle any UV-unwrapping etc. since it is so tedious and boring as hell. I certainly pray to the heavens your planning on using normal mapping on that too.
Is this going to be a van the player will drive around in? or a prop van?

yes, I have played bf for friggin ever, and yes this vehicle will play quite a major role in the mod, it needs quite a damaged skin, with dirt/dents here and there.
Sorry, I don't remember you under the name Poly Cube, what name do you usually use, and whats your aim/msn handle, I'll send you the files, also, like I mentioned, its not unwrapped yet, or else it would be skinned, nobody wants to really unwrap something like this, even though its not that high poly, but then again, it wouldn't be the funnest thing either way.

4k for a player car is fine but that genearlly includes the insides as well. HL2 should handel 5k-7k player car though.

we haven't began on the insides yet, the hl2 buggy was around 12,000 triangles and was going to be sized down, so I wouldn't go so high as to say 7000 polygons...but you never know, they usually are pretty safe about their boundaries and they could be broken a bit I am sure.
