I've been looking around for 'the art of' books. Y'know, books that have all the pre-production/production stuff like storyboarding, character profiles, rough sketches, etc. It's really inspirational to see how these things are done from step 1. I've found a few on amazon, but they're only from American-based companies like Disney or Pixar.

Anyone have any good links/websites to art books that are Japanese animation or more indie-based?

Parka is quite known on the web for doing reviews of lots of art books. He writes good info on them and supplies the reviews with images. A real life saver.

Here is a list of the books he has reviewed. (http://parkablogs.com/content/list-of-art-books-reviewed)
