Hi! :)

Just letting anyone who's interested know that I've written an article about overcoming some of the technical shortcomings of the new Mixer Brush in CS5.

I've been wrestling with the Mixer Brush these past few months, determined to make it work for me, and I've learned a lot of things in the process.

Here are some of the points I cover:

Painting in 16-bits/channel
Sample All Layers
Blending with Transparency
Height Textures
Making a useable round brush

As well as a few other things...

Anyway, the article is the first post on my new blog (http://gapriest.blogspot.com/). (I'm a blog newbie so please excuse the dust!)

Let me know if you have any questions, or if you've had any other insights concerning the Mixer Brush.

Thanks for the tips,
I've been messing around with the mixer brushes also for a long time trying to duplicate the effects of Painter
but with no luck
I feel that the end comes out the same as if i was using regular photoshop brushes, only the path of how it it's made is changed....
Sadly i've given up on them :(

Wow! The thing with the glove is an awesome idea! I just bought a tablet and it's a very cool tip.

Btw, about mixer brushes - is there any way to create some kind of palette for mixing colors?

Sorry, I missed this. :)

Photoshop doesn't have a mixer palette like Painter but it's easy to simply use a different document to mix paints in. Just 'tear' the new document out of the default tabs so that it floats above your main document. As long as your main document is still tabbed, the floating document will stay on top while you work.
