This is by far the most influential WPE I have ever seen... it's perfect for what im looking for

I'm just wondering though, how do you know which colors to choose? I read all about the color wheel and whatnot, but what I see doesn't seem to really apply to what I thought I learned.
Any ideas or patterns that I should have seen but missed in this guys choice of what hues/saturations/chromas to use?
