Respawn Entertainment is looking for an Art Director!
About Us:
Founded in 2010, Respawn Entertainment is an independent video game development studio based in Van Nuys, California that will focus on creating state-of-the-art gaming experiences for global audiences. The studio was formed by Jason West and Vince Zampella, former co-founders of Infinity Ward and creators of the multi-billion dollar Call of Duty franchise.
Respawn intends to develop a multi-platform product that works on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Its product will be based on new video game IP and will be funded through its publishing deal with Electronic Arts, one of the top publishers in the industry.
An exceptionally talented and seasoned team, excellent studio culture, and opportunity to build a new IP await our future Art Director. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to establish the vision of a new IP with some of the best developers in the industry!
Responsibilities:
Provide creative and unique artistic vision for new IP. Respawn
Provide exceptional leadership as “Art Guru” for the team.
Art direct and give clear, constructive critiques.
Create beautiful and inspirational concept art pieces.
Maintain culture of excellence in art and design.
Work closely with leads of other departments to create schedules and maintain game design vision.
Ensure cohesiveness of look/feel and overall vision throughout the game. Help establish mood, climatic moments, etc. through artistic design and direction.
Create style guides, color keys, etc. as needed.
Create artwork for marketing purposes (posters, box covers, ads, etc).
Requirements:
Must have significant previous experience as an Art Director in video games and/or film (7+ years’ experience preferred).
Exceptional ability to establish, effectively communicate, and maintain artistic vision for game.
Strong ability to design and illustrate everything from characters to environments to mechanical designs and more.
Ability to create high quality, inspirational concept art paintings.
Basic understanding of 3D, experience creating designs to be translated into 3D.
Exceptional leadership skills.
Previously shipped AAA title/s a plus.
Expert in Photoshop, Painter, or related software.
Strong traditional and/or 3D art skills a plus.
