Hi everyone!

over the last 6 month i was texturing for a mod project. no painting- only some sketches beside the texturing work. last week i noticed how much i missed playing arround with my wacom. i sketched arround and this creature came out. i saw the orc thread from JohnM, with the burning sky and decided to give my sktech some extra hours.

now i got stuck. i thought, okay work on the details, fix anatomy- but now something is disturbing me. i dont know what it is, i have doubts to over detailing it and losing the focus- i dont know.... :(

any advices or critics are greatly appreciated.

excuse my poor english,

manuel

That's looking really nice so far. I'm looking at getting a Wacom soon, and people like you inspire me to really work at it. I see what you're saying about something being missing. To me, it feels like there's a real contrast between the way the frogs are done and the way the rest of the piece is done. They look really nice, they're just lacking that edge and dirtiness the rest of the piece has. I guess if I were you I'd work on making it look like they fit more with this world, make them look more like warriors. Hope that helps some.

i think it might be the frogs bein too bright and not having any textures.also,if there's fire in the background, then it's most likely that it will cast some lights on all of the creatures.also, what are those orange strokes doing at the end of the creatures foot?the make no sense at all and prevent the creature from having a shadow.
hope you understood everything.cheers.:chug:

thanks for your advices. yes the frogs dosent match to the rest of the painting. they will get a texure like the rest of the picture. i also will add reflections and glow from the fire....

but beside of that i have problems with the picture. i dont know why. maybe i fix that points and maybe the problem is solved :)

The composition is very central, this can be boring.
Try moving the image left or right to create direction.
Eg: if there is more room on the side that the frog is looking (the left) it creates the impression of where they going. If theres more space behind them it can create the impression they're being followed (or similar).

The image is quite good so far, a more interesting composition could be a simple to enhance it.
