Lol.. yea.. I was trying to decide from a few different general designs (including the whole.. "IT" thing.. hah).. but I gave up and just made a very quick and carefree photoshop sketch.

Arghh... I lost this one before I had anything. It's supposed to somehow balance on the wheel, but there doesn't seem to be any possible way for that to happen the way it's designed... Maybe i'll try something later today after class.

This is the first time ever that I have attempted to draw a vehicle of some kind, I've always thought it was "boys stuff" !!

But I just did a quick skectch and threw it in photoshop and I had so much fun with it!! This is the best DSG i've done so far, I loved every minute of it....I spend around four hours on it.:D

http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v85/chermilla/cybyke.jpg

I thought it could be a high-speed racing bike, with turbo thrusters and when it stops little legs come down out of the back to stop it falling over. :)

the idea is that you have two rotating discs on the central wheel, allowing you to turn - kinda like the principle used with tank tracks.

hey can anyone tell me why on my computer my picture looks really nice and crisp, but on here it look all fuzzy looking?

Just a little idea of me. It looks strange, I'm as always unhappy with it but no one knows what the future brings. *g*
I think it's not such a vehicle ;)

oh man, next to art, bikes are my passion so I WISH I WISH I WISH I had time to join this DSG. Maybe I can squeeze something in during my lunch break...

Does the steampunk cowgirl horsebike that I made for a DSG a while ago count? hehe..
http://filebox.vt.edu/users/uarshad/art/_steampunk_cowgirl_.jpg

Also, this topic SCREAMS "Venus Wars" - an anime/manga by Yoshikazu Yasuhikio about a biker kid who rides one-wheeled-demolition-dirby-style dirtbikes and then gets hired by the military to drive a one-ton-one-wheeled-anti-tank attack motorcycle. Pretty sweet anime and manga if you havent already checked it out.

Anyways, this is awesome stuff everyone!

- Skank: that is a slick design! I love those overlapping fairing/seat things! Where's the driver sit, though? Kinda hard to tell...
- Plaf: its so simple and sleek looking... awesome! My favorite so far... :D Just one thing - how does the driver see where he's going?
- Village Idiot : you take teh cake for originality... I was cracking up in my office when I saw that...
- Command Obvious : I like that you drew an engine and the exhaust. The guy in the colored version looks a little cramped, though, and it looks like his seat is coming off the wheel for some reason?
- Chermilla : I'm digging those colors!! Love the fact that you just replaced the back tire with a rocket!! must be a seriously fast machine!
- P_N_R - I like the bike design, but with the driver laying down like that and such a thick tire, he wont relly be able to see where he's going... heheh that's okay though cuz it doesnt look like he can turn it to avoid obstacles anyways ;)

maximusprime: yeah, i was thinking that too =) how does mate see where he's going. i wanted to do a transparent section of the wheel but that wouldn't really give enough visibility, so the display in front of the rider is all he has to navigate.

He is coming off center but not actually detaching. hito hit the nail on the head with this one though. The rider is on a quasi free-swinging arm so that the cycle can be steered. Without some sort of static hing to push against, the only way you can really turn something like this is to shift the balance (and being essentially a huge gyroscope, it will tend to automatically right itself too). I know the driver looks cramped (I shrank the design down a bit) but that's because I'm lazy :P

Sweet topic though. I'm glad I stayed up late enough to see what it was going to be.

Before I start I have to get something of my back.

I HATE PHOTOBUCKET.COM

Whenever a pic of some of you is not visible to me, or stopped while loading, or turns out crappy on the net (hey CHermilla;) ) it´s hosted at photobucket. I mean, c´mon folks. In Europe you can get a website with sufficent space for monthly the average amount for three packs o cigarettes. I´m dead sure there´s similar hosting offers in the US.

Anyhow, back to the dsg now:

INN DA HOUSE: Commander Obvious (I think I´ve seen something like this moving at robodockfestival amsterdam) ; SINIX & SKANK ARE IN THE HOUSE; JOOK IS IN THE HOUSE; :::::: Sorry Folks, yer all doin great, can´t salute all of ya t´day. But one more YEEA jeroentje!!! Grat minimalistics.
And lahbaid.. Konkret Tronmäsisch, Allder >>Translation: Dude, that´s sooo Tron, y´know?

Now. First thing I thought about was this:

EDIT: LINK ONLY PLEASE (http://www.highlight-comic.de/conceptart/dsg01/monowheel00.jpg)

Battle Angel ALITA from the prodigy Yukito Kishiro.

This was my first attempt. The obvious wholewheel thing.

http://www.highlight-comic.de/conceptart/dsg01/monowheel02.jpg

And then I got like this.

http://www.highlight-comic.de/conceptart/dsg01/monowheel1b.jpg

Somehow it got hijacked by a trooper. I really love troopers. Who knows the trooper /clerks crossover spoof? :chug:

And then I gave it a fast twist in photoshop. I´m not entirely comfortable but this will have to do for today.

http://www.highlight-comic.de/conceptart/dsg01/monowheel01a.jpg

Yer all doin great and I love each day of dsg. Are there T-Shirts yet???:D

ahhh but wolf, if you size yer images correctly on photobucket they come out just fine (even if all of mine show up a bit big)
its a great resource for those of us that dont have any money and the website i do have doesnt allow direct linking and even if it did i dont know how to post my images on it(i know im retarded yadda yadda...) and with photobucket you dont need to know how
by the way love the work today

I'm sorry for posting without something to contribute artwise, I thought I'd share that http://www.tripod.lycos.co.uk/ gives you 50 mbs of space for free (whereas the american verison gives you only 20), and allows outside linking of your images. You merely have to take 5 minutes to throw up a psuedo webpage to appease their terms of use. It's awesome, I've been using them to post my images for the last year with no problem.

Ahem, I'm not totally off topic, really! :D

JörgenGiftmördaren - Hehe, that's cool. It looks like space age gear for the geriatric set.

I spent way too much time on this one, about an hour with pencil and paper trying to find a decent concpet and drawing it more or less in perspective and more than 2 hours painting it in painter 8. (Photoshop for final color adjustment as usual). But I learned things in the process so it was a good use of my time.

This one started off terrible, and at a few points I was ready to declare it a lost cause and start over. But I stuck to it and eventually came out with something halfway decent.

SABRE, great action scene. There's a great sense of speed in the picture.

Helzer, great stuff. My only complaint is that it looks paper-thin. Although, adding the rider has definitely helped that a lot.

Shambacca, you've definitely got the coolest rider so far. I also like how you can clearly see how the bike (or would it be unike?) works. The kickstand is a nice touch.

- Helzer : holy crap. very cool, very slick!!!

- Iotrez : those bubble cockpits are awesome!

- Shambaka, bbwolf and buz : very original and cool concepts!

Okay, so I DID have time to draw a really small (4" high) sketch... :D

I had the same idea as plaf about two steering treads on the wheel itself. I think I should have made the wheel flatter, though, because this is not a fast moving vehicle so would not balance itself out well at slow speeds with a rounder wheel... oh, and dont ask me why there's a samurai flag there..

This is really weird. I was JUST modeling a one wheeled robot for a personal project. It's not done yet, but I made a quick render for this. Detailing of the torso needs to be done. All textures are temporary (they all look rubbery now, I know), and something really weird is going on with the shadow. I'm still a lightwave noob though, under 2 weeks of use. :(

I don't even know if 3D is valid for the DSG... I'm pretty new here too, though i've been lurking a while.
