you will choose a topic to draw/paint etc.
we will have 1-2 days to complete it (depending on how much time we both have)
... and it will go on and on like this. untill we decide on some new rules.
so i will choose the first topic now. an easy one to start with :)

Cartoon Fox...hey I would be down to draw with you...I go to school and then have to work to pay the bills, so 1 a day or 1 every coupla days would be perfect. You come up with a topic and the rules ( I am a noob at the digital painting too, I think I am just too lazy to take the time....) and I'll jump in. Nice work in the creature thread btw, always had respect for the inkers out there....

ok, i've edited the first post.
todays topic is draw your own hand. left or right. just a pencil sketch.
you have untill the end of today (wednesday)
i'm not sure what time it is now there, so we can check each others tommorrow (thursday) as i'm sure texas time is quite a bit behind uk time. :) which is when you choose the nex topic.
good luck,
peace :)

very nice. I really like the top one. It seems to be more proportionate. I would love to see you throw down some ink on it...I know that is your forte...it also appears clear to me now that bad scanners can be found on both sides of the ocean. Here is mine for today, sorry it took so long, I am at school all day today.
I tried to darken as much as possible on paper to help out the scanner....we are still trying to understand each other over here.
Ok hope I do this right....

I am still shamefully new to posting. I have my pictures uploaded elsewhere...how can I upload them so that they load up on our thread like yours....some help guys.
Ok I thought about the topic for a while, and I know that this gets away from the figure drawing, but I was intrigued...
Topic: a pencil sketch of an ornate/highly detailed chess piece-any of the playing pieces is cool. Good luck.
Ok here is another one... I got bored in photography..

hey, nice drawing. the second scan is much better. so use what ever settings you used for the second scan :) funny bug in the corner too :D
hmmm, a chess peice huh? i dont mind not being figure drawing. as long as there is an equal amount of observational drawings and imagination drawings, i'm happy :D
though i think i'll have to use a photo for reference. i dont think i have any chess games :D
btw, try http://www.photobucket.com for image hosting. as long as you have jpg, gif, or png, it is excelent, at least for sketches (as images over 250k are automaticaly resized) and has loads of space and badwidth. :)
peace.

Cool, I went with the knight piece too after I thought about it for a while...sorry it took me so long to post, I have been unbelievably busy.
Here are some concepts I drew up in photography class (I am fairly familiar with what the pieces all look like, I try to play every so often....):)

and here is my final drawing I finished up tonight after the I got back from the Spurs game.

I tried to go for an older looking piece...not too sure how much of that I accomplished...

Evil huh? Hmmmmmm, good one....I'll have to think about trying to come up with something original for that one.

I hope you don't mind, but I looked at your last pic, and I thought that I would give you some comments, seeing as how we are trying to improve and all.....

These are things I noticed right off the bat...maybe others will see it differently...
1. Your perspective is just a bit off. It looks like you outlined your initial sketch, and then went in and added the bands around the base and in the middle of the piece. I think that is why your bands don't really line up and seem a bit off....I put the red lines on too see if it would look better if they were lined up together......Also, the back of the horse's head seems to be going off in a different direction than the front of the head. Maybe there is some shading there that the scanner didn't pick up, but a little pencil behind his ears could help emphasize the angle.
2. The lack of a consistent light source. I see that you put some shading into this, but it is kinda chaotic. If you defined where your light was coming from and used it to put in your highlights and shadows consistently, it will go a long way towards making the picture look more realistic, no matter how good or bad the line art.
That's pretty much all I see. Hope I wasn't too harsh. Feel free to tear up my stuff. I need some brutal honesty in my life these days....
I'm off to start creating evil...........:evilbat:

yep, evil it is. anything that you can represent as evil. and you can use any media, traditional or digital for this one.
