Greetings all,
I've been lurking around here for a couple of years and figured it was about time contribute and take advantage of the wisdom and experience that frequent these virtual halls. I am a first year artschool student and this is my premiere attempt at a portrait study from a photo reference. Charcoal on paper, (18x24), 4 hours. I am 80% satisfied with it. I still see some proportion issues though. I am here to learn so comments and critiques are, of course, welcome.

Thanks.

In my opinion ,I think you did really well. I mean think about it to, you only spent 4 hours on it. It would have taken me much longer than that and I seriously dont think it would have look as good. Good job

I love the attention to detail in his shirt.
Sure everyones eyes are drawn to his face/eyes - that's just human nature - but your peripheral vision still needs something nice to look at, and you really complemented the feature face well.

One crit though - Harrison's right eye seems to be a bit too dark in the top right, as in there is no contrast difference between the over hang of his eye/eye-lid, and the top of his eyeball.

Great piece.
