Despite having work to do, I'm currently working on my tabletop turnbased 'RTS-genre' game. Anyone know if there has been a tabletop game before with base construction and such? I got no idea if the idea works, I simplified it a lot because of the potentially large number of units and turns. I haven't even playtested yet, but hopefully it'll work. I'm writing all the rules based on pure guesstimation. Using some untried (?) concepts with 'binary' dices and one action per turn to keep it simple and consistant.

Dunno if I'll finish it, as I'm totally sporadic.

I hate you.....

Ok it's not hate, just overwelming jealosy (did I spell that right)

These pieces are so damn fun and colorful, I really admire your technique and style.

One comment , the HQ reads more like a storage shed, especially when you compare it to the highly developed anti personal turret.

To get ahead of myself, I wonder how the final play pieces will be presented. Will they be card stock cutout, 3-d minuratures, decaled blocks ....... blah blah.

It looks like a great project, I can't wait to see more

Yeah the HQ looks like a shed. The other factories are more symetrical and oderly. The HQ (basecamp) is quite small too. I wanted it to have a 'misc. activity mini camp' feeling. Something they set up in a hurry to get ops working. Maybe I'll alter it some. I'm changing a lot of stuff as I go.

Weird scene... a sniper scraping off dirt from a wall or whatever... I just colored a pointless thumbnail.

Turrets. Fixed the oversized barrels on the inf. one. Trying to keep barrelsize consistant with the damage and range.

cool stuff! i used to play warhammer 40k when I was a kid, so I love this kind of stuff. are you going to paint some sort of terrain (sp?) / obstacles / playing board thing? also I was curious whether the other race /team would be differnt that the green army stuff you've got going on here. it would be nice to have some very contrasting styles/ silohettes/ color schemes for the other side to make things more interesting.

Thanks! Yeah I got some elfs and organic races aswell. I'll be doing terrain later, mainly rocks and other solid obstacles.

This one is a bit older:

nice contast! the other race is very angular and sharp where the green is round and bulky. I would love to see some sort of massive mothership/ behemouth land tank thing, if that sort of thing is balanceable in your game

holy crap! These are absolutely awesome man, outstanding as always - I'm totally jealous. They'd make kickass enemy units for an overhead shooter as well as a tabletop game; can't wait to see where this goes!

EDIT - would make great units for an Advance Wars style game as well! Totally sweet. I'd definitely be willing to help playtest if you decide to finish up the project!

I worked some on the tanks lately. I got 3 types of battle tanks (+2 artillery). The leftmost is a superheavy tank (a behemoth like asked for?) (pretty hard to build), next is the heavy tank and last the standard tank that is the most common.
Got 2 APC's on this pic too. I might add a small turret for self defence on them (like on the tank turrets). It's just a puny infantry gun.

Man, I would love to see these style of sprites incorporated in to a top down shooter, Raiden or Ikaruga style.

Uhoh... I need to spend some time on this project too... sigh, to little time / too few arms.

It's not intended to be a RTS, it's a TBS you play on the kitchen table. This one would be crippled as a puter RTS. I have plenty of other RTS projects tailored to work realtime. Maybe I'll post some time.
