Not so sure how I feel about all of these smileys,
:assspank: :asslick: :asskisser: :asspat: <---- :blah:
but I've been reading the threads for the past three or four days and I think this site should be good for me! I couldn't bring myself to sign up until just now, though.
I've been trying to improve as an artist for about three or four years now. I decided I wanted to when I was 14 and now I'm 18, but I don't feel like I've made much progress except some in the past year. I took an AP Studio Art class and we had weekly sketchbook assignments. I liked that class a lot, despite everyone else being quite a bit more talented/skilled/whatever than I was.
So, I've been reading things on here. Tutorials (I had to close fifty tabs of them at once because Firefox was taking three minutes to load), some of these 'classes', general things to do - so I hope that you can point me in the right direction of where to start getting better! I've read some books that were suggested by certain people (Successful Drawing by Andrew Loomis to name one) but they're sort of over my head at this point.
I have some of the sketchbook assignments from the school year that I'm wondering if I should post in a thread. I've been less than diligent about drawing anything this summer and hope that some good advice will help me get started on improving! In particular, can someone clarify / point me to how to start doing studies? They seem like they'd be really beneficial. Thanks!
