HOY !
Fairly new to Conceptart.org -- thought I'd post this as I'm in desperate need of feedback. I DEMAND CRITICISM! :)

I left the sketch of that fat kid in the corner because I think he's just so cute. Both him and the chick were drawn from pictures found in Sports Illustrated (I think..) The woman is my first real attempt at drawing the human figure from a resource.

i think everything looks good, i guess, i mean i dunno. but the hands, dear lord the hands, need work, try putting your hand down and looking at it, the hands in the pic look too rigid and stiff, hands are smoother and need to look like they'll hold up weight, everything else is fine thouggh...

Not a crit on the work, but you might want to compress your pics a bit more next time. No reason why a 800x600 B&W pic should be over 275KB in size. Try using JPEG instead of GIF, and compressing a bit more so it load a bit faster for the web use (and it's B&W, you also might as well save it as grayscale instead of RGB to shave even more weight off).
OK, I'll crit a bit too. Please plase try being more loose with your linework. Your proportions are good, but the linework looks a bit too diliberate and labored. Loosening up (and speeding up) will do wonders for your linework. And never draw with only your wrist (i.e. resting your palm solidly on the paper when you draw). Your drawing arm has 4 levels of articualtion (shoulder, elbow, wrist, and fingers), so use them all to your advantage!
Also, intead of using photo reference, try to draw from life. This should force you to draw through the shape, lending you more insight into how the shapes and figures you are drawing actually works in 3D instead of treating the whole exercise as a line tracing endeavor. Please understand that I not accusing you of tracing! But rather, if you are bothering to draw something freehand, then you might as well go all the way and understand the shape of what you are drawing as well.
Remember, lines are not physical but rather conceptual. There are no lines and curves in reality. When you draw lines, you are trying to draw quick shorthand representaion of shades of color and values that you are observing in reality.

Hoy! Thanks, monkey! I really appreciate your post. Very helpful, even the part about file compression ( I never knew about jpeg and all that before..). Very helpful reply, CM, thank you very much. All that about the lines is terrific. Danke.
