ello, just came by to check on things hehe. Like your work you definetly have muscle detail and shading skills but i think your in the same area I'm in working too much from pictures or diagrams (other drawings). Tho they are excellent life drawing is where it's at! Take your still life for example that rocks it's full of form and has great depth. But when you go from a photo it lacks the visual detail needed to get the best results, take a peek (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19127) at what Chris Beatrice
had to say, hope it helps. Chris has told ALOT of people this so don't take it the wrong way makes a ton of sense, keep at it!

kewl man can't wait, 2 years holy crap.. welp you can definetly take it further, just like me. I've drawn things since i was like 7 or 8, I just need to apply myself more and oh yeah, go to college lmao, sigh:o

I think you'd benefit from working from life. The still lifes are nice, coming from your imagination, but you have some light/shadow areas that are contradictory. That is, the light and shadow patterns on the objects suggest one light source, but the cast shadow is going somewhere else. Also, most shadows in the world aren't black. In their most basic form they're simply a darker shade of whatever surface they're being cast on. Obviously they're more complicated than that, but it's a good place to start. Try to avoid black shadows, since it looks extremely fake. Plus, black is boring.

No, you THINK that shadows appear black, but they don't. Look CLOSELY at objects around you and their shadows. Maybe even hold up a black pencil and compare. Are all the shadows truly black? Try putting objects on different colored surfaces and observe the different colored shadows. Play with the lighting (warm/cool) and see what affect that has on the shadow.

This doesn't even touch the issues of reflected light, which exists everywhere (unless you're in a room with all the lights turned off I guess, or one with all black objects).

Glad to see you, too :)
I've been drawing since early childhood, but i never actually tried to "study" the art :) I am drawing on plain paper, with plain pencils and stuff, but can't post anything untill I buy a scanner :)
Well, keep it up man, look forward to see more of your stuff

Thanks man, this is exactly why I started my thread, to get me motivated, and find out what should I do. You say you've studied Michelangelo, is there any particular book, or any other kind of source you could reccomend?
Thanks again, look forward to seeing your next posts :)

Unfortunately I can't help you too much man, I am waaaaaaaaaay back on learning how to draw and until I am able to I can only say keep it up

I found those books you mentioned but they are around $100, which quite keeps them outta my reach for a while :). And I also did what you suggested, I drew in pencil this week and if I wasn't completely satisfied with the results, I could notice though that my drawings turned somewhat better than last month's :)

 on man

I know that not getting any feedback from people might be quite frustrating, but hey the point is not to stop... just draw. Those studies look great BTW. I think that the shading of that sitting girl's backbone looks kind of strange... I mean it is too dark which makes the backbone look too prominent... Consider using lighter shades instead of plain black, but that's just a suggestion, everything looks good

Keep it up, man ;)

You definitely have an artistic and classic style. The only thing I can suggest is try drawing other things than just muscles and try doing it all from your head. Even if you're doing a body, try it all from imagination.

Love your hand studies Icey. Are most of these from the black and white photo book with the creepy drawings of dead people stacked on top of each other? Thats a really good book, I've done a few drawings from that one.

It looks like you are flying through these drawings. Try to slow down. Go as slow as you need to, so you have time to let everything soak in. You could easily spend 4 or 5 hours on one of these drawings (probably even more) Try to get to the point where your drawing looks EXACTLY like the photo. You'll learn so much doing that, try it out.

Keep up the hard work!

I like the composition and I admire you as you have drawn it from your mind. I also like the traditional romanian objects.

Love your last updates man, they look great :)
I see you started as well drawing from your imagination, the old monster i mean :)
Keep up

One more thing: I think you should try to apply lighter values, because if you go all dark it's kinda difficult to "isolate" the shapes... or it's just my crappy monitor :)

Hi. I like your works and I really really really like the hand study. Keep at it and don't get frustrated if people do not respond right away.

If you don't mind, may I make a critique...some of the figures look a bit tight and tense. As an axperiment, try relaxing your hand and drawing the initial stages really loosely and lightly.

Wow! They are all amazing! The textures and the 3 dimensional feel!
It must take forever to render them like that.

But try to get more subtle things right.
Subtle value differences ... and most important: the proportions.

In too many of them the proportions don't look 100% ok.
Fix mistakes early!
