Hi whoever, welcome to this thing. So I'm in a pre-college figure drawing class online from Academy of Art university, these are some of the assignments I've done so far. I don't think I ever really used charcoal before this class. Well I messed with it a bit but I had no clue what I was doing. Um. Ya. on to the pictures!

Uh, thanks! I don't really understand what you said though. are you using some kind of online translator? It does not work good. So anyway this is a study of a drawing by Xu Bei Hong

Who is your teacher at AAu ? I assume these are from photo references since it's an online class ? Either way these are a great start and you have a good sense of proportion, a nice touch with your charcoal pencil and some good first attempts at light and value. Keep it up!!!

Thanks! My teacher's named Michael Magruder, and yes everything's from photos. Our final assignment's coming up, it's going to be a really awesome portrait and it's due on the 3rd.

Hi Vertical,
It is quite shaming to me to admit it but I must say that you are much good than me in charcoal painting. Can I know the website of the school to attended.

Thanks a lot masong. Don't be ashamed, just practice a lot! I'm taking classes from Academy of Art University in San Fransisco, but hard work outweighs going to any particular school.

The last assignment. Hopefully the best one too. I'm definitely going to keep making charcoal figures though. I thought it was kinda weird that the last project in figure drawing was a head, but oh well. I suspect the reason for that is so they don't have any nudity in the online portfolio things. EDIT I've been making some oil paintings too, the first two are dry. First was a study of a blackberry, second was supposed to be a study of pomegranate leaves, but it became some kind of abstract thing.

still life of a watering can. It only LOOKS like it sucks, in reality it's a metaphor for the decay of fine art in American society. You just don't understand :|
